Job Description

SUMMARY

U.S. Bank's Technical & Operations Services (TOS) business line currently has an exciting Product Owner opportunity working with our Global Treasury Management division in our Receivables product portfolio.

The ideal candidate is a customer advocate and product evangelist, they are always looking for ways to make our services and products better.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Partners closely with customers (internal and external), the business line(s) and Agile teams to drive the evolution of the assigned product(s). Maintains and refines product backlog; creates user stories and acceptance criteria and prioritizes all stories to ensure work focuses on those with maximum business value that align with product strategy. Acts as primary liaison between the business and Agile teams, ensuring the teams understand vision for the products.

Work closely in a hands-on style with development team including addressing daily prioritization needs, providing real-time feedback and answering questions on an ongoing basis. Works with Product Management to set release dates, determine when sufficient value has been delivered to release to market, understand tradeoffs between schedule, scope and budget and communicates this information to the organization. Employs product management practices and tactics including customer research, data and analytics, and market research.

REQUIRED

  • Bachelor's degree, or equivalent work experience

  • One to two years of related experience

PREFERRED

  • Ability to collaboratively develop and evolve a product backlog

  • Ability to develop and articulate a product vision that supports outcomes, value and prioritization of work

  • Solid understanding of the Lean/Agile mindset

  • Demonstrated leadership and interpersonal skills including ability to collaborate with and empower teams

  • Well-developed verbal and written communication skills

  • Proficient computer navigation skills

  • Standard industry certifications such as Professional Scrum Product Owner (PSPO) is a plus

Job Description About the Department The Treasury Department is comprised of professionals who work together to drive long-term shareholder and System value by ensuring System-wide liquidity, managing and safeguarding financial risks, and providing world-class global financial leadership and expertise to the System. About the Team The Financial Risk Management team is a valued business partner for both the broader finance organization as well as the global Supply Chain teams. The team's goals are to: a) be a center of excellence on global commodity and currency risks; b) build capabilities and develop strategies to protect the System from those risks; c) foster positive relationships with customers; and d) ensure continued education and understanding of risk management around the world. Key Responsibilities The Analyst will be exposed to the diverse markets of commodities, currencies, and general macroeconomic trends. Learning from the team, Supply Chain team, supplier, and banking partners, this individual will build a base of knowledge about various products and markets that will serve as the foundation for risk analysis and strategic hedge decision making. The Analyst will be responsible for monitoring and reporting financial market events, maintain and update a central data repository, provide reporting and analytics, and assist in other ad-hoc requests. Specific key responsibilities include: Actively monitor financial markets and the global macroeconomic environment to understand primary drivers of a wide variety of commodity and currency markets by using existing supplier and banking relationships to support impactful analyses and recommendations for risk management hedging decisions. Lead primary data management, which includes cleaning, analysis, visualization, and interpretation of results. Work with large, messy, disparate datasets and develop analytic solutions based on multivariate statistics, including regression-based modeling, various predictive modeling tools, descriptive statistical techniques, and statistical diagnostic techniques. Collect, clean, and aggregate global risk management data and report on associated strategies and hedge levels to build and maintain dashboard tools to quickly inform critical business decisions. Manage routine monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting processes, including Supply Chain reporting for both commodity and currency risk management to drive visibility into business performance and resource planning decisions with guidance and support from the team. Translate complex analytical concepts into consumable insights and communicate relevant market-based information on commodities, currencies, and macroeconomic events to both broad-based and targeted global Supply Chain teams. Develop new and engaging ways to disseminate information to reach a broader audience to support the FRM team's education and presentation initiatives. Explore and deploy technology-based solutions to craft scalable workflows and tools to automate process that would otherwise be manual and time-consuming. Adapt existing methods and procedures to recommend and implement possible alternative solutions to moderately complex problems, and execute already identified initiatives for process optimization and organizational effectiveness related to data management, advanced analytics, and reporting. Assist with other various ad-hoc and cross-functional finance-related projects. Qualifications Must be fully vaccinated (i.e., at least 2 weeks after last dose) for COVID-19 and, if hired, present proof of vaccination by start date. Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business Administration, Mathematics, Computer Science or other relevant field. 4+ years of Finance or Supply Chain related experience. Previous risk management experience not required. Advanced knowledge in finance with strong business acumen required. Continuous learning mindset with an interest in financial markets extremely crucial. Excellent quantitative skills and experience analyzing large amounts of data using multiple, disparate data sources to develop analysis tools to synthesize various findings into actionable recommendations. Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Office required. Experience with advanced analytical tools and software strongly preferred (i.e. VBA, R, Python, Alteryx, Tableau). Exceptional writing and presentation skills with comfort and ability to develop clear, concise, and compelling executive-ready communications to various audience groups with limited guidance. Ability to multitask with excellent organizational and project management skills.
