Department Summary

In partnership with and in support of administrative stakeholders, the Business Information Technology team designs, develops, configures, enhances, optimizes, and maintains products and platforms that enable UCLA's business functions (e.g., Budget & Financial Management, Student Information, Faculty Information, Business Information, Human Resource Information, Customer Relationship Management).The Financial Management team conceives, configures, monitors, defines, tests, delivers, monitors, optimizes, and refines financial management products and application technologies, including but not limited to mobile and web applications, budget/financial management products, and other services. This department also works to optimize user experience, address digital accessibility needs, and establish the highest standards of quality assurance and release management for UCLA's administrative applications and technologies.

Position Summary

The Product Owner, Financial Management Products will play a critical role in the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of Financial Management Products and services, through creating and supporting a product vision, roadmap, and backlog, while also ensuring that they align with the university's strategic objectives and meet the evolving needs of UCLA's students, faculty, and staff. The Product Owner, Financial Management Products will conduct customer research and collaborate with key stakeholders across the university to develop and convey a distinct product vision.

The Financial Management Products Product Owner will be responsible for driving innovation and excellence by working closely with cross-functional teams, stakeholders, and users to define requirements, prioritize features, and deliver exceptional value. The Product Owner, Financial Management Products will positively impact UCLA's operations and culture by enabling University stakeholders to effectively leverage financial management products and applications.

This team member will advance the University's mission by delivering exceptional information technology services comprehensively and consistently across faculty, staff, and students. This role will execute UCLA's vision while modeling UCLA's culture and values.

Salary & Compensation

  • UCLA provides a full pay range. Actual salary offers consider factors, including budget, prior experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business considerations.

Qualifications

Five years experience working in one or more of the following fields: information technology, application services, product services, computer science, computer information systems, or related field. (Required) Seven or more years experience working in one or more of the following fields: information technology, application services, product services, computer science, computer information systems. (Preferred) Proven track record of delivering successful Financial Management Products that meet user needs and drive value. (Required) Experience in complex higher education environments, serving academic and administrative functions of a large public university. (Preferred) Advanced knowledge of financial management product development concepts, practices, standards, and processes. (Required)Proven ability to identify key issues critical to the organization's long-range success of a desired product or service. (Required)Analytical mindset, with experience in data-driven decision-making and performance measurement. (Required)Strong written and verbal communication skills and is able to communicate complex technical ideas to a diverse community of colleagues and stakeholders. Can relay technical information to audiences of technical and non-technical stakeholders. (Required)Able to establish and advance positive working relationships and a strong rapport with a diverse community of colleagues including team members, stakeholders, and customers. (Required)Advanced organizational skills, ability to balance priorities, deliver concurrent projects to various stakeholders. Ability to work in a project-based environment using project management practices. (Required)Advanced problem-solving skills; ability to identify root problems and scope solutions based on knowledge of resources, timelines, vision and strategy. Seeks information from diverse sources to inform solutions. Demonstrated ability to make decisions with integrity. Education, Licenses, Certifications & Personal Affiliations

Bachelor's Degree In business administration, organization development, communication, or public administration, or related field OR equivalent experience/training. (Required) Bachelor's Degree In one or more of the following fields: business administration, organization development, communication, or public administration, or related field. (Preferred) Certified Scrum Product Owner (Preferred)

Special Conditions for Employment

  • This position is eligible for a hybrid work arrangement that includes regular visits to campus as needed (for those who work remotely, travel/lodging expenses are not eligible for reimbursement).

The anticipated pay range for this position is $135,740-$157,071, annually; salary is dependent upon the skills and experience of the selected finalist

  • Background Check: Continued employment is contingent upon the completion of a satisfactory background investigation.

  • Live Scan Background Check: A Live Scan background check must be completed prior to the start of employment.

Schedule

8:00 A.M. to 5:00 P.M. PT, Monday through Friday and/or variable based upon operational needs.
