We are looking for a Product Manager to join our Product Management team within our Platform Services division. athenahealth strives to be the most open healthcare ecosystem. We are looking for an energized, roll-up-the-sleeves kind of product manager to be key player in executing our goal to be the industry's best API platform and developer experience. You are passionate about the possibilities that can be unlocked by using standards-based data exchange to truly change the game in healthcare. You are detail-oriented and are willing to go deep into learning the FHIR interoperability standard. As a Product Manager in this heavily technical space, you understand the technical terminology and can have detailed conversations with the developers, but you are equally comfortable translating into business terms why standards-based interoperability is important and prioritizing the use cases based on business value. You are good at using qualitative and quantitative data to drive execution and strategy. You can make the tough trade off decisions between scope and schedule, while maintaining true focus on outcomes. You move quickly and can manage stakeholder relationships effectively.

The Team: Our Product Management team is responsible for setting the direction for how world-class APIs are built within athena. We provide robust API frameworks, tools and standards, so teams can implement cohesive and consistent APIs.

Job Responsibilities

  • Become THE subject matter expert in the FHIR technical standard and evangelize the benefits of FHIR and standards-based data exchange to technical and non-technical audiences

  • Foster an API-first mentality and execution approach across our organization

  • Understand the market, business outcomes that can be enabled through APIs allowing free flow of information across systems and care settings and what would best serve our clients and the industry today as well as in the future

  • Contribute to athena's API product vision and define requirements, and drive the execution in close partnership within your scrum team(s)

  • Define epics and user stories, clearly articulating business requirements for the problems we're trying to solve - with a strong focus on outcomes

  • Drive ongoing backlog allocations and prioritization of opportunities within area of responsibility

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of healthcare industry experience

  • Proven track record of success

  • Experience working with healthcare data integration and interoperability using HL7, FHIR, and other industry standards

  • Experience or familiarity with REST APIs is a plus

  • Experience working in an Agile framework

  • Experience working with Developers and JIRA
