You must be able to transform quantitative and qualitative data from our customers into insights and strategy to dive product development priorities. You transform those strategies into product development requirements and work closely with your agile team to deliver features and enhancements at a fast pace. You will measure performance, keep your pulse on the customer, anticipate bottlenecks, make trade-offs, manage internal customers and take acceptable risks to maximize the benefit for our business.

Role Overview

  • Understand business partner needs, and advocate on behalf of business partners and their customers to ensure project success.

  • Translate product vision into a well sequenced roadmap that evolves as we learn and adjust our business goals.

  • Develop and refine product roadmap and strategy in conjunction with key stakeholders

  • Capture and prioritize product requirements through customer research, voice of customer and usage metrics

  • Set business goals for product and identify how you will measure them. Ensure success criteria is clearly defined and instrumented.

  • Distill requirements into features and user stories consumable by development team

  • Establish and maintain positive business unit and stakeholder relationships.

Job Summary The Product Manager provides leadership in strategic product marketing (market views, segmentation, and multi-generational product planning) and platform definition for PolyOne's products. This individual is a thought leader who performs independently and has demonstrated the ability to effectively interact and influence peers and the next level up in organizations (PolyOne and Customer). Essential Functions The purpose of the Marketing Function is to deliver: * Engagement of customers and the business leveraging key tools such as situational analysis, sales & marketing plans, the POL process, EVE tools, the pricing quote tool, marcom resources, effective product launch kits, etc. * Ensures that product introductions support the specialization strategy and meet the launch requirements of the POL process. * Establishes clear measurement and management of product profitability, and proactive management of product mix. * Ensures products sales records are analyzed and performance is evaluated against sales targets. Monitors product gross margins and profitability against control standards. Reviews product prices, approves price deviations, discontinues unprofitable products, and implements price increases. * Develops or reviews product forecasts for management approval. Monitors business results. Initiates and updates Strategic Plan in conjunction with management in each region. * Oversees the development and introduction of new products with sales, research, manufacturing, and distribution. Develops technical literature, advertising campaigns, definitions, specification, and performance standards. Develops, reviews and coordinates product promotion, technical presentations, and advertising through marketing staff and Marketing Communications. * Ensures customer and PolyOne sales personnel receive continuous technical support in the form of up-to-date product application technology, training, and problem solving. Develops contacts with major customers and suppliers. Conducts executive marketing/sales calls to maintain customer contact, promotes sales efforts, evaluates market trends, and develops business at target accounts. * Works closely with Environmental Health & Safety to ensure products meet local, state, and federal / country regulations. * Works with production to ensure product availability meets customer needs. * Attends various trade/organization functions to develop business contacts and gather market information. * Supports and is committed to PolyOne's LSS improvement process. Plans strategies to ensure error-free work and conveys this attitude in the daily performance of various duties. * Develop and implement the strategic marketing direction for the product platforms. * Creates value proposition for the industry focusing on the customer and ensuring product quality and consistency. * Responsible for overall gross margin for assigned product lines. Assists the organization in accelerating growth market expansion. * Takes customer and market trends, feedback, and opportunities to create technology focus. * Drives measurement and tracking activities including market size, market share, and ROI. * Other duties asassigned *LI-CB1 Education and Experience * Bachelor's degree in Business or Marketing * 7+ years relevant experience required. Additional Qualifications * Successful track record of effective goal setting to achieve strategic business objective through focused motivational leadership. * Significant Business Acumen and ability to apply complex analytical and critical thinking skills to create profitable growth. * Requires strong math aptitude and ability to understand impacts of variables when providing pricing recommendations. * Ability to mobilize internally and externally to set and achieve business goals; able to articulate and drive required change and translate into actionable objectives for the extended marketing network. * Good verbal and written communication skills and excellent presentation, research and project coordination skills. * Self motivated with the ability to multi-task. * High customer service orientation with desire to spend significant of time interacting with others.
