Job purpose:

The Product Manager is accountable for dreaming up knock-out products, with innovative technology, that customers cannot live without. This role is a critical part of the Product Management function and instrumental to leading Sage's cloud first strategy, delivering our products worldwide. Our mission is to win in the market with the world's best products, marketing and channels.

The Product Manager will represent a deep understanding of the needs of the customer and the market and drive requirements into the global product strategy, vision and roadmap. They will be the face of the product, own the product roadmap and evangelise the product internally and externally. They will be a great influencer and team player to ensure the needs are heard and road mapped, whilst at the same time understanding the wider Sage strategy and direction.

Key activities include:

  • Understand customer and market needs. Contribute customer, product and market knowledge to inform decisions on product vision and strategy

  • Translate market requirements into technical requirements for engineering teams

  • Develop and Align the product roadmap with the product strategy

Key accountabilities and decision ownership:

  • Analyse needs of end users (consuming products and services) to build the product vision and strategy for the platform

  • Build and maintain a roadmap for the platform that is aligned with the vision and strategy

  • Understand and analyse market offerings and competitor capabilities

  • Adhere to product management methodology for roadmap definition, documentation, communication, and governance

  • Work closely with engineering teams to prioritize requirements and align roadmap releases and deliverables with development capacity, to define and communicate product requirements, and to ensure product delivery as planned

  • Work with other product management teams et al. to ensure alignment and rapid consumption of services released

  • Ensure product marketing, marketing & channel and strategic partners have all relevant product information to launch products and updates successfully

  • Act as the go to person for all product and roadmap related information needs

  • Engage with external parties (e.g., partners, press, media, customers) from the platform and technology (but, not marketing) perspective

  • Initiate and foster relationships with other stakeholders within the organisation.

  • Understand the market, competitive and legislative landscape for the domain Key Responsibilities Customer centric approach

  • Engagement with stakeholders at different levels with different functions (tech, marketing, leadership etc.)

  • Deep domain knowledge of technical services building blocks and frameworks built to create higher level services. Things like identity, entitlement, telemetry, etc

  • Recovering engineer that has written code for a living and lived in the shoes of being a builder is key.

  • Team player who understands they may not always be priority; knows when to lead and when to follow; always joins in the global mission

  • Great communication skills (written and verbal). Ability to present topics in concise and effective manner.

  • Willingness to say "No", push your colleagues, negotiate with key stakeholders, and continually ask if there's a better solution.

  • Accountable for the outcome

  • Passionate and expert at cloud and mobile technology

  • Passion for Sage growth and the customer
