Working as a Product Manager, you will be a key member of the marketing and sales team in Electrification, Smart Power, defining marketing plans, including marketing communication, training and sales initiatives. As a Product Manager, you will be responsible for the NEMA/UL Controls Product Line, including both open component and enclosed products.
Your responsibilities
Understand and define market segmentation and product positioning. Analyze and track market, technology, competitor and customer requirements and trends to determine competitive attributes and differentiated value propositions
Contribute to business strategy definition, translate that business strategy and market requirements into competitive portfolio requirements; Identify gaps, needs, opportunities, and risks in existing portfolio and strategies to address (feature enhancements, cost reductions, etc.)
Define new product plans; Prioritize new product development projects to achieve targets; sets technical, price, cost and expenditure targets
Identify opportunities to streamline the product offering to the vital few products required to address growth and profitability targets; Organize and lead product exits to ensure planned and orderly obsolescence of end-of-life products and transition to alternatives in line with life cycle management (LCM) process
Interface between customer and customer facing and internal functions (Sales, Operations, and Research & Development), forecast volume trends on a regular basis to ensure Operations' capability for customer fulfillment. Set targets and monitor product/system costs to provide inputs to Operations' functions (Supply Chain Management, Engineering, Production) to maximize competitiveness and profitability
Partner with Product Marketing to initiate and drive communication strategy, including product launches and promotional activities. Provide subject matter expertise to Product Owner, Product Marketing / Marketing & Sales
Ensure achievement of established targets through definition and oversight of improvement actions as needed. Focus on market share, achievement of revenues, margin and project on-time and on-cost targets
Your background
4-year Degree in Business, Engineering, or related with minimum 5 years of experience in Product Management, Product Development, or related field
Proven experience in Product Management or Product Marketing preferred
Knowledge of NEMA products and systems, experience with Controls / NEMA Controls, and the commercial/construction/distribution channel
Knowledge / experience with Empower and/or product configurators
Strong leadership / influencing skills must
Strong communication skills & ability to lead and influence without direct authority
Strategic thinking, able to analyze and manage complex business situations
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Assertiveness and ability to work in a virtual team
Availability for occasional domestic and international travel
Candidates must already have a work authorization that would permit them to work for ABB in the US
