Position Summary:

We are looking for an experienced Senior Product Manager to join the RELX Group Product Analytics team. The Product Manager will be an internal consultant who use his/her knowledge of product management and skills in project management, problem solving, communication and change management to help product managers across RELX Group incorporate data-driven techniques into their day-to-day activities.

The Senior Product Manager will act as a catalyst and evangelist to share new ideas, new ways of working and external and internal best practices. This will be done via specific projects, pilot testing and workshops with the intent to demonstrate the value and potential to RELX Group businesses.

The Team:

The RELX Product Analytics team's mission is to enable and support data-driven product decisions across RELX Businesses. We work directly with senior business leadership and product development teams across RELX Group businesses (LexisNexis, Elsevier, Reed Business International and Reed Exhibitions) in targeted projects aimed at demonstrating and accelerating the culture of data-driven decisions.

The Role:

The Senior Product Manager is a member of a new team of product and analytics experts led by a Director of Product, Analytics, who reports to the RELX Group VP of Innovation. The Senior Product Manager will be based in our NYC office and will report to RELX Group's Director of Product, Analytics, a senior member of the Innovation team. The role will require occasional travel (~25%) to our various global offices for project meetings and workshops.

The Senior Product Manager will:

  • Support product analytics projects that deliver transformational impact for the RELX Group businesses, with contributions including:

  • Delivering insights that inform future product development investment

  • Being passionate about investigating and interrogating data to find key insights and ideas that can change the product development roadmap

  • Collaborating with business leaders and product managers to develop actionable approaches that will deliver measurable results

  • Preparing persuasive & compelling presentations to clearly communicate the case for change

  • Readying the business to implement agreed upon approaches

  • Build innovative product analytics capabilities across the RELX Group businesses by:

  • Developing workshops, webinars, presentations and training sessions

  • Providing informal, ad-hoc strategic support to colleagues

  • Proactively and continuously gathering and sharing intelligence on industry trends

Ideal Candidate Profile

Skills:
  1. Customer Focus: we build products for our customers. The ideal product manager is relentlessly customer focused, understands the customer and uses that understanding to create value through all aspects of the product.
  2. Product

    Skills:
    has brought new product features to market. Identifies the most important data to consider and sets KPIs, priorities and dashboards.

    Experienced at A/B testing tools and using testing to improve experience and drive success. Is comfortable taking an analytical, data-driven approach for situations where rigorous data sets are not available. Manages projects without direct supervision, involving manager or other senior leaders only when appropriate.

  3. Technical Skills: experienced in a product development atmosphere, interacting with product managers, developers, UX and data scientists. Speaks knowledgably with tech and data counterparts about development approaches in consideration.

    Understands technology stacks at a high level. Learns about new technologies to support new product development efforts. Is comfortable analyzing data using multiple software packages (e.g. Excel, Adobe Analytics, Google Analytics, etc).
  4. Strategic Consulting

    Skills:
    learn fast and adapt to new products, data environments and people. Experience working with broad stakeholder groups.

    Strong analytical and quantitative skills with the ability to use data and metrics to back up assumptions, recommendations, and drive actions. Uses strong business judgment and strategic mindset to bring new thinking and change to organizations. Has a great sense for how to present data and information in a visual way to make the message more compelling and memorable.     Move beyond what we are doing today to thinking about how we can grow into the future. Eager to tackle a variety of product analytics issues every few months with different businesses and different stakeholders. Analytically inquisitive.

    A desire to always explore the data further, never satisfied that you have found all the insights. Outstanding attention to detail, particularly when working with raw data and putting together presentation materials. Positive, enthusiastic and motivated.

    Pragmatic and hands-on, able to seamlessly move between hard and soft skills. Ability to work well with cross-functional teams. Persuasive, collaborative and trust-worthy.

Qualifications and Experiences:

  • Bachelor?s degree in a relevant field e.g. Business, Finance, Economics, Computer Science, Mathematics, Operational Research, Statistics

  • Post graduate specialist study is preferred

  • Experience leading product teams and launching products/features to customers using data-driven decisions.

  • Proven experience in Product Management and/or Management Consulting roles, ideally gained in a blend of consulting and large corporate environments where innovative analytical approaches were used for Product Development decision making
