Job Responsibilities

  • Manage ifm's Inductive, Magnetic, Ultrasonic, and Valve Sensor product lines.

  • Conduct market research by visiting customers that can "drive" innovation for Position Sensor Products.

  • Develop and coordinate complete market launch plans including forecast, promotional literature, electronic content, demo process, and training with a focus on conceptual selling.

  • Work with sales team to identify and focus on large customer opportunities (must win accounts) using temperature and flow technologies.

  • Support ifm Corporate (Germany) Product Management on new projects, from study to realization to market launch.Visit key customers for proof of concept, field testing, and to establish first success.

  • Develop marketing plans (mailers, e-mail, google, etc.) specific to industries and applications to drive continued growth of established products.

  • Coordinate product support functions such as training, logistics, technical support and quality control.Provide information on top applications.

Candidate Requirements

  • BS in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering or related discipline, OR 5+ years of experience in a technical discipline

  • 5 plus years industrial automation experience in product marketing or sales

  • Proven track record working with large customers on projects that impact sales growth.

  • Highly developed leadership and interpersonal skills in coordinating efforts of others.

  • Strong influencing skills and drive for results.

  • Excellent communication, technical writing and presentation skills.

  • Ability to travel up to 40% out of local region including internationally.Target is 100 customer visits/year.

Primary Function: The Product Manager is responsible for leading the product management activities for our leading Enterprise SaaS solution, in alignment with the company's overall strategy and goals. This includes defining the product vision, defining and implementing growth strategy across market segments, gathering and prioritizing product and customer requirements, and managing the products throughout the product lifecycle. This position will work closely with engineering to deliver market leading products with sales to ensure revenue and customer satisfaction goals are met. Additionally, the Product Manager will take the lead on New Product Development, working with engineering to ensure customer requirements are addressed, developing the value proposition and managing launch programs to maximize ROI. Responsibilities and Duties: Product portfolio management * Develop product roadmaps: Own product management within the business from inception through introduction to obsolescence * Defines and plans new products by prioritizing opportunities, developing opportunity statements that shape the value proposition and drives competitive positioning * Manage product enhancement including identification, research and definition * Manage engineering to sales product transition process * Ownership for product extensions and product extension strategy * Accountable for defining engineering priorities and activity * Working with external third parties to assess partnerships and licensing opportunities Customer management * Understanding market needs and competitiveness * Driving customer-led product enhancements * Accountable for providing customer use examples to engineering * Act as primary bridge between customer feedback and articulating requirements to Engineering * Driving resolution of customer satisfaction issues * Manage product demos for customers Strategy * Define product strategy and roadmap to drive adoption and differentiating features * Develop strategic marketing plans for a product line from market research, competitive analysis, pricing, customer engagement and business planning * Service strategy development * Define market entrance strategy * Develop product pricing strategies * Estimate consumer demand for the product(s) and identify potential customers * Stay informed of any competing products on the market Team Leadership * Lead a team of product management professionals in the development of both strategic and tactical deliverables * Actively develop and grow leadership talent through effective mentoring, coaching, succession planning, and retention strategies * Communicate efficiently with engineering, purchasing, finance and other departments fundamental to project management * Ensure business driven product objectives are aligned with and supported by strategic marketing * Completes other duties and activities as required Qualifications and Required Skills * Bachelor's degree in Engineering with strong business orientation.
