The Product Manager develops and applies Product Management processes in the design/realization of new product offerings. This position works in concert with User Experience and Research on determining product usability to ensure the product developed meets the needs of the customer throughout the various stages of requirements, design, development, testing and release. This position is responsible for both product planning and product marketing; gathering and prioritizing product and customer requirements, defining the product vision, roadmap and working closely with UX and engineering, to deliver winning products. This position also includes ensuring that the product and marketing efforts support the company's overall strategy and goals, defining the product strategy and roadmap, delivering MRDs, PRDs and/or equivalent with prioritized features and corresponding justification, developing the business case, being an expert with respect to the competition, and ensuring that the business requirements are met.

Job RequirementsJob Duties/

  • Writes product requirements, develops business models, and defines support requirements and processes to ensure product vision is understood by cross teams

  • Finds new sources and methods to generate customer/partner and competitor insights. Defines issues as well as identifies needed data and missing research to generate additional customer insights to improve the product

  • Identifies possible methods and attributes to make the product distinct, competitive, and appealing to the customer

  • Works to define new product concepts and business cases to support initiatives that increase operational efficiencies and/or margin.

  • Creates, evolves, and communicates feature area specifications that form cohesive, iterative plans that align to the multi-release vision

  • Demonstrates a strategic understanding of the timing and rationale for design choices for a feature area

  • Advocates for process improvements through an understanding of the engineering lifecycle and previous shipping experiences

  • Identifies feature-level dependencies and establishes milestone release criteria to manage them

  • Proactively resolves upstream dependencies and demonstrates an ability to resolve conflict effectively across teams

  • Identifies unaddressed issues and resolves, escalates, or finds the appropriate owner to ensure the highest level of quality

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Level Degree

  • 2+ years related professional experience

  • Ability to work in an environment where work is generally self-directed and is guided by workflow and project requirements and review is normally after the fact and may be developmental in nature.

  • Ability to exercise judgment in selecting methods, techniques and evaluation criteria for obtaining results on matters of significance to the business.

  • Skilled in Presenting can effectively communicate in large or small group settings.

  • Business Awareness understands current and possible future business trends and information.

  • Knowledge of analytics platforms and ability to utilize the data / tools to guide decision making.

  • Ability to use professional concepts and resolve a variety of issues significant to the operations of the business.

  • Requires the knowledge and confidence to evaluate possible courses of conduct and propose solutions to moderately difficult business or operational challenges in the normal course of work

The Product Manager leads the design and execution of the product strategy and is responsible for portfolio management and pricing strategy (in cooperation with the category directors). To do so, he/she supports the optimisation of the full value chain in collaboration with Procurement, GO, SC, ICD / ATS, and is knowledgeable on market / competitive intelligence. While the role is primarily asset facing, the Product Manager plays a critical role working closely with Category Directors to support commercial initiatives and pipeline management. Main accountabilities Strategic Planning: Define and execute product line strategies and tactics, building on global / regional product strategies and local category strategies. * Lead development and execution of product line strategy, vision, value proposition and goals, ensuring proper communication across the organization and adequate issue prioritization. * Conduct analysis on the current business to identify how best to implement the business model * Compile competitor intelligence, and incorporate learnings into ongoing platform management * Provide and sense check of regional assumptions used for expansion investment papers Product Line profitability: Drive profitability for the business through pricing strategy and margin management; clear ownership of break-even points, target margins, and price banding * Set product line pricing strategy, including floor pricing and target pricing for individual SKUs * Work together with management to outline AOP targets (growth rate, rev., CM, GP criteria) * Work with CSDs to manipulate and provide financial information to make the right business decisions Portfolio Management: Optimise the product portfolio to SKU level, making choices about new SKU commercialisation, SKU clean-up while connecting the innovation pipeline * Manage product portfolio, with cross-functional inputs, to meet existing and future volume and margin expectations * Actively manage portfolio clean-up and rationalisation, as well as the innovation pipeline in coordination with ICD (where relevant), CDs, and ATS teams * Prepare & submit for QMM (spec changes, special SKUs) Pipeline Coordination & S&OP: Lead S&OP, 5YP, AOP product line input, and manage allocation of products to category and customer level as required * Monitor monthly S&OP (including inventory); conduct gap analysis and identify / execute actions as required, and provide transparency to 12-month forecast * Work with CSD's to fill and convert pipeline required to achieve targets and objectives, recommending specific actions to drive growth and support portfolio management Value Chain Optimisation: Participate at the cross-functional team (GO, Procurement, ICD, etc) to identify and realise optimisation potential across the value chain * Support structural cost reduction programmes, and asset management strategies and projects * Identify future capex or M&A requirements, and support overall business planning Support customer meetings: Support customer meetings (with Global Account teams / Regional Account teams) where detailed product knowledge is required Support translation from product to category: Support Customer / Category Marketing teams in in translation from product into category, and value proposition for key applications Required Competencies * Experience in product management and / or specific product line knowledge as well as the food and beverage industry and food ingredients market * Strong commercial acumen, with a proven ability to make choices and prioritise projects in relation to the business opportunity they represent * Analytical and detailed-oriented, and a comfort discussing technical details * Excellent communication (verbal and written), and an ability to navigate in complex matrix organization * Strong action orientation, self-starter and able to work independently as needed * Ability to travel, up to 20% as needed to manufacturing sites and customer meetings Key Relationships * Texturants Platform lead (reports to this role) * Texturants Matter Expert as well as other PMs * Regional Leadership Teams (GMs, VP Commercial, CDs, FDs) * Day-to-day working partnerships with Technical, Sales & Commercial, Marketing, Procurement, Quality, Finance, GO Nearest Major Market: Chicago Apply now " Apply now Email Tate & Lyle Hoffman Estates IL
