Morgan Stanley Investment Management manages portfolios of private equity, private credit, hedge funds, real estate, real assets, and multi-asset alternative investments on behalf of institutional and high net worth clients.
New Product Development
Keep abreast on industry trends and new types of alternative investment and fund structures in order to inform the product development pipeline.
Collect competitive intelligence to determine what new products competitors are launching and to monitor market trends and growth projections.
Support the new product development process by coordinating the activities of all relevant parties to meet targeted launch dates, including offering document development and review, marketing materials, and operational processes.
Work with Sales to assess demand and product viability.
Using input from Sales and competitive data, determine fund terms, such as liquidity terms, minimums and fees. Ensure proposed pricing meets Firm profitability standards.
Obtain all necessary product and seed capital approvals including MSIM New Products Committee and other internal approvals and MS Wealth Management approval, where appropriate.
Coordinate with the Investment Team and Marketing Team on development of new product marketing materials. Review materials to ensure proper messaging.
Coordinate product launch process with distribution parties, including coordinating the due diligence process, negotiation of revenue-sharing, training and other support (e,g, FAQs, etc.)
Assist the Sales teams and MSWM with product training and education, responding to questions and problem resolution.
Ongoing Product Management
Monitor flows for launched products and recommend remediating action when necessary, such as changes in fees, liquidity or other terms, addition of new share classes, opportunistic relaunch of timely products, liquidations, reorganizations and re-opening of closed funds.
Prepare Board reports as necessary to obtain approval for fund term changes (applicable to registered FOF products). Keep abreast on industry trends and new types of alternative investment and fund structures in order to inform the product development pipeline.
Respond to product-specific inquiries from Sales personnel and distribution channels.
Resolve problems and recommend solutions to operational issues as appropriate.
Special projects as necessary.
Support of Distribution Channels
Support of primary retail channel, Morgan Stanley Wealth Management, includes fee and calendar negotiations, coordination of materials for fund launches, organizing speakers/ training, responding to FA and sales team questions, issue resolution, responding to due diligence requests.
Third party distribution partner support includes coordination with Legal to prepare distribution agreements, updating due diligence requests, responding to inquiries, providing training and materials as requested.
Undergraduate degree in business or equivalent discipline preferred
Strong analytical, problem solving, organizational and project management skills
Proven interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written
Team player with ability to evidence leadership, credibility, and build consensus
Strong attention to detail and flexibility to handle multiple projects and changing priorities
Prior alternatives experience preferred
