PRODUCT MANAGER

Position Description

This position is responsible for planning and oversight of a line of UCare products throughout the product lifecycle. The incumbent will analyze and manage business opportunities and oversee performance and growth of existing products.

  • Analyze market and understand segments, prospects and current members. Articulate strategic direction for the product based on customer needs and business goals including potential changes to service areas, new product introductions and state procurement opportunities.

  • Develop, implement and modify as necessary annual and multi-year plan(s) for assigned products based on solid understanding of current product assets, functional capabilities, competitors' market position, national trends, political climate, strength/weaknesses and customer needs.

  • Lead a cross-functional product team(s) to guide development and achievement of product plans, track product performance and respond to emerging issues.

  • Understand health care insurance marketplace and state/federal regulatory reforms in order to identify opportunities for competitive product development and improvement. In collaboration with Marketing, Sales and Business Development staff, complete ongoing environmental assessments to prepare the organization for future competitive, marketplace and regulatory changes.

  • Serve as the chief subject matter expert and advocate for assigned products.

  • Define product benefits and other features based on customer feedback, sales input, industry trends, regulatory requirements, and research and actuarial analysis.

  • Participate in relevant committees and workgroups at UCare. Provide market and analytic support to evaluate and recommend new product and business opportunities.

  • Provide strategic consultation to other functional areas and committees on product performance, member/provider experience, and other improvement opportunities at UCare.

  • Collaborate with colleagues across the company on new product implementation, annual readiness and other product-related activities.

  • Other projects and duties as assigned

Education

Bachelor's degree in business, marketing, health care/public administration, or related field, Masters level degree preferred. Demonstrated work experience may be considered in lieu of degree.

Required Experience

Five or more years of experience in a health plan or health care organization with responsibility for product performance. Must have proven ability to work in a matrix environment and possess the ability to lead a cross-departmental team. Working knowledge of health plan functions including: operations, marketing/sales, compliance, information systems, data analysis and clinical.

Preferred Experience

Product management or business development experience in the health plan industry. Experience in new product development and launch. Product performance responsibility in a matrix environment. Knowledge of state, federal and commercial health care programs and products.

Everything from defining the future path, detailed requirements, partnering with and guiding design and development, spearheading launch activities and driving adoption post launch * Consistently generate and prioritize new product and feature ideas * Take a customer-centric approach to understand the needs and pain points to generate future product priorities * Drive testing, research, and analysis to facilitate quick decision making Experience and Skills Needed * 5+ years of Product Management experience including B2B enterprise solutions and/or consumer mobile technology products, technology products or related experience leading highly complex strategic projects and cross-functional teams * Domain Experience with Workforce Management or Scheduling applications * Strong strategic thinking and problem solving skills * A natural leader who can inspire a team of diverse skill sets and opinions * Scrappy and dynamic with a belief that what others think can't be done, will be done * Flexibility to take on a wide range of tasks to fill in any gaps that exist to make a product successful * Strong analytic experience and a bias for data-driven decision making * Ability to manipulate and draw insights from data * Superb communication skills * Successful experience working in a fast-paced, dynamic (read: sometimes chaotic) environment.
