The Product Manager will be responsible for increasing the profitability of existing product lines and developing new products for the business unit. This includes managing new product projects from existing ideas, helping to develop new ideas based on experience and interaction with customers, spending time in the market to understand problems, and find innovative solutions for the broader market, managing the pricing, inventory, and other day to day responsibilities.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Has direct responsibility for managing new and existing products

  • Responsible for examining, developing, and recommending product strategies

  • Champions research and analysis required for new product development process including all applicable project deliverables and PAC / Gate requirements

  • Takes ownership and manages all elements of the product development process, including product specification, packaging, pricing, and phase out / phase in plans

  • Leads and directs project teams in the development or sustaining process to execute projects and assignments

  • Responsible for generating Business Proposals and Charters for new product development

  • Attends sales meetings and visit customers and end-users as required; conducting product training presentations and research

  • Capable of navigating complex mainframe computer systems to quickly become proficient in Leviton's Legacy and Oracle systems

  • Develops and amends market and product intelligence database for his / her assigned products; shall be a source of intelligence concerning product and market specific issues, including the economy, competitors, and business trends via the Internet and appropriate trade publications

  • Responsible to examine and analyze product lines' performance encompassing, but not limited to, profitability, forecasting and inventory levels

  • Shall be fully knowledgeable of assigned product group and act in an advisory capacity regarding product information to Engineering, Operations, Marketing, Marketing Communications, Customer Service, Tech Line, and the sales organization

  • Assists in the development of supporting new product launch material with Marketing and Marketing Communication Managers

  • Maintains competitive cross reference of catalog numbers for assigned products

  • Responsible to provide a level of support to the sales organization and customers on product (technical and application questions)

  • Capable of managing the support activities of an Associate Product Manager and / or Project Coordinator

Education Experience:

  • A Bachelor Degree in a technical field or business field is required
  • 3 to 5 years' product management experience

Skills Abilities:

  • Ability to analyze PL statements and reports and make decisions to improve performance

  • Experience with product line management throughout the entire life cycle

  • Experience writing reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals

  • Experience presenting to groups of managers, employees, and the general public

  • Must be self-reliant and possess excellent oral and written communication

  • Must possess a unique blend of business and technical savvy; a big-picture vision, and the drive to make that vision a reality

  • Must apply critical thinking skills to determine best approach to bring new products to market and to work with engineering, operations and marketing and sales staffs

  • Ability to cultivate and maintain relationships with customers

  • Ability to organize and manage project teams to support the development of business opportunities and execute business decisions

  • Ability to work in a highly confidential work environment; and the ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form

  • Strong mathematical, analytical and computer skills

  • Capable of travel to attend meetings or visit customers

  • A highly developed level of creative skills and resourcefulness is required

  • Above average knowledge of Microsoft Office tools

  • Excellent time management skills

Travel:

  • Up to 25% travel

External US Job Summary: The Product Manager will be responsible for leading new product development projects to drive consistent, market-leading growth for point of care ultrasound markets. Essential Job Functions: * Achievement of sales and market share goals for assigned products. * Define product features and definition for new and current product offerings. * Ownership and responsibility of assigned products through entire product lifecycle. * Develop strong relationships with clinicians to attain deep understanding of user needs to ensure the "voice of customer" is reflected in products and business processes. * Serve as a customer advocate on internal product development teams. * Clearly communicate product benefits to our users and internal stakeholders. * Drive fact based product requirements based on market research to support both market analysis and new product designs specifications. * Review requirements and delivery progress with a broad set of business stakeholders including engineering, design, sales, marketing, business development , finance and regulatory. * Support program management to effectively prioritize market needs, product priorities and deliverables. * Work in tandem with marketing managers and sales organization to analyze business performance, identify business opportunities, determine strategic direction and resolve market and product problems in a timely manner. * Monitor and analyze product feedback from multiple sources to integrate into product development. * Monitor financial performance metrics to measure the efficiency and effectiveness of new product enhancements (ROI success). * Analyze and report on competitive activity and technology development trends that may impact business. * Work with Quality and Regulatory Affairs to support regulatory activities specifically related to the introduction of new products (i.e., country registrations, submission and follow-up of 510k), as well as responding to internal and external audits (i.e., FDA, ISO, other regulatory bodies). Knowledge and Experience: * Significant ultrasound industry experience (3+ years) in successful product management. * BS/BA in biomedical engineering, clinical science, biomedical sciences or equivalent ultrasound imaging systems. * Preferred direct experience in customer facing role: marketing, commercial sales, clinical field applications. * Experience working collaboratively in cross-functional product line teams. Skills and Abilities: * Strong analytical and process skills. * Ability to prioritize, work under pressure and meet short and long term deadlines. * Excellent communication and presentation skills. * Excellent interpersonal skills. * Ability to travel approximately 20-25% of time to meet with customers and regional sales teams to drive customer focused product development.
