As a Product Manager, you will set the vision for growth in your product layer, and execute against ambitious goals. In this role you'll get to:

  • Own product strategy from concept through launch, along with future iterations

  • Connect with the customers to identify insights to drive decisions

  • Successfully shipped products

  • A few years of experience partnering with engineers, designers, and other product leaders to drive product improvement and new features

  • Confidence in representing the product organization internally and externally

  • A data-driven approach to problem solving

  • Excellent communication and ability to clearly articulate vision

  • A creative approach to connecting customer feedback to product development

  • A strong understanding of the competitive software space

  • A desire to move quickly and grow in a fast-paced environment

We are a lively team of software engineers, computational scientists, and product managers who are committed to agile development practices, excited about large-scale data engineering, and believe in accelerating science and improving lives through data technologies. Our tools and platforms are used by thousands of researchers across the globe, processing petabytes of data to advance science and medicine. We are crafting the creation of world-class, scalable cloud-based data resources and pipelines to process, store and share human health data on an unprecedented scale. We are looking for a talented and motivated product manager to join our team. The ideal candidate will be passionate about science and data engineering. They will enjoy working in a collaborative, team-based setting and interacting with people at other institutions around the world. They will have good attention to detail and take pride in the software produced. They will be interested in learning about sequencing, genomics and the scientific work of the Broad Institute. What you will do: * Collaborate effectively with engineering teams to formulate a roadmap for new and ongoing product development. Build and maintain the product backlog with the technical team. Continuously prioritize the work in the backlog to deliver the most significant value to our current and future users. * Engage with and survey scientists and clinicians, lab personnel, and other stakeholders to understand their needs. * Develop a basic understanding of the complex regulatory environment surrounding health information in both a research and clinical setting; translate this understanding into product definition and scope. * Identify metrics for software products and work with development and operations teams to ensure that mechanisms are in place to collect them; iteratively refine software products according to these metrics. * Demonstrate, and continue to develop, leadership without authority in technical, design, business, and scientific environments. * Champion software products to the Broad community. Inspire development teams, collaborators, and stakeholders with concise, valuable, relevant product vision statements that target the most important user scenarios for Broad. Who you are: * Bachelor's degree in a scientific or quantitative field * Several years of Product Manager experience with increasing responsibility. * Excellent leadership and exceptional verbal and written communication skills required * Energetic and enthusiastic personality * Any of the following is a plus: Familiarity with cloud environments (eg., GCP, AWS, etc.). Familiarity with big data processing pipelines (eg. Google Pipelines API, WDL, CWL, Docker). Experience with a formal programming language (eg. Java or C++) and a scripting language (preferred Python). * Experience in academic, laboratory, and/or research environment strongly preferred.
