Position Summary

As a product manager, you will inspire, collaborate with, and energize team members to deliver a world class suite of products and services that enable Happy Returns to continue to rapidly scale our business in the huge ($290B) market for online returns.

The product manager will:

  • Report directly to the COO/co-founder
  • Play a key role in defining and managing new and existing features of Happy Returns' technology, including: meeting with internal and external stakeholders, gathering requirements, working with designers to build wireframes, fully documenting requirements, vetting requirements and designs with engineers, and participating in managing the successful deployment of new features
  • Possible products you may work on include Happy Returns' end-user-facing mobile and web apps, middleware, back-end, partner integrations, reporting, accounting, and other systems
  • Ensure the world class speed, reliability, scalability, and security of Happy Returns technology
  • Work with retailer partners to understand their needs and capabilities and complete any necessary work to get them up and running with Happy Returns
  • Perform any other work necessary to deliver a world class technology service to enable Happy Returns to rapidly and successfully scale our business

Requirements

We are looking for someone with:

  • A demonstrated track record of designing and shipping software products or features that are highly usable and reliable at scale: 2-5 years of successful experience required
  • Excellent product sense; working independently as well as with UX designers and engineers, must have the ability to conceive of and refine UX designs/flows that are simple and effective
  • Strong quantitative and analytical abilities
  • A high aptitude for learning new systems and industries quickly and managing products across the full technology stack
  • Strong technical knowledge of software design and development; CS degree preferred, some level of coding beyond HTML/CSS required
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
  • The ability to manage and prioritize development tasks to maximize the effectiveness of the team and maintain engineers energy and enthusiasm over time
  • Interest in e-commerce, logistics, and/or the L.A. startup community

Key Responsibilities * Supports and contributes to the creation of a Product Strategy and Roadmap leveraging key stakeholder relationships, customer insights/analytics, and other digital strategies. * Defines the minimum viable product (MVP) through data-driven and proactive grooming of the scrum team backlog. * Responsible for articulating and translating the Product Manager's vision into high-quality and articulate Epics, Stories, and Features. * Strong UX background and capable of concept development in partnership with design teams. * Responsible for defining feature-level key performance indicators (KPI`s). * Works with the scrum teams on a daily basis to set clear direction and expectations, articulate business requirements, remove roadblocks, and provide subject matter expertise through constant communication and collaboration with the delivery team, designers, and business stakeholders. * Conducts feasibility analysis and scope/cost trade-offs. * Sets the quality standard for delivery. Responsible for the development of user story acceptance criteria (test plans) and accepts each story to ensure adherence to the quality standards. Desired Skills and Experience * Demonstrated history of conceiving, developing and driving digital products from inception to market (mobile and web). * Data-minded with A/B testing experience. Demonstrated history of using data to drive a digital product development roadmap. * Deep experience with Agile development methodologies, ceremonies, and artifacts. * Entrepreneurial spirit + the ability to deliver and thrive in fast-paced, dynamic startup environment. * Comfortable and effective working across multiple business units, including Product, Engineering, and Sales. * Analytical, organized, and an independent problem-solver. * Demonstrated ability to make difficult and quick decisions on a daily basis using data and customer insights. * Strong problem solver and experimental mindset needed to drive innovation and lead the team to success. * Internet industry (mobile and web) experience preferred; healthcare or financial services a plus. * Knowledgeable in modern mobile/web UI architecture and development, responsive web design and development, and analytics. * SQL familiarity a plus. * Bachelor's degree.
