Product Manager Financial Accounts and Employer Administration

Benefitfocus launched their Account Services business unit with a line of solutions including benefits administration technology and services that support Consumer Driven Healthcare Accounts, COBRA, Consolidated Billing, Direct Billing, Direct Payment and Invoice Reconciliation. This role is responsible for definition, roadmap, health and driving profitability of the offering. This includes managing the offering throughout the product lifecycle, prioritization and grooming of the investment backlog, design oversight to ensure alignment to vision, coordinating with strategic technology and services partners, and leading cross functional teams including Product Ownership, User Experience, Quality Assurance and Engineering to drive the execution of the product backlog. This role also includes consultation and oversight with the Customer Development organization to ensure alignment with product direction where necessary.

The role is expected to:

  • Maintain clear definition of the financial and investment benefits solutions and market offerings

  • Drive product investment and roadmap that ensures alignment with market needs

  • Ensure balanced investment across key metrics including quality, scalability, performance, and security

  • Partner with Product Portfolio Managers for management and grooming of the backlog

  • Provide design coordination and oversight to ensure cohesion with the technology product vision

  • Collaborate with Marketing to develop the positioning and messaging for the market

  • Support development of pricing to meet revenue and profitability goals

  • Participate in cross functional team of Sales, Marketing, and Product to develop sales tools and collateral

  • Evaluate new market opportunities and execute buy/build/partner evaluations to solve for emerging opportunity

  • Provide mentorship and support in the development of Associate Product Managers

  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders on solutions and ownership of technology

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 5 years experience as a Product Manager or similar role

  • Minimum of 7 years of software product or support experience in one or more of the following: Employer Benefits, Consumer Accounts (HSA, FSA, HRA, 401(k), COBRA and billing and payment administration

  • Demonstrated success defining and launching successful products

  • Bachelor's degree (MBA preferred)

  • Technical background, with experience in managing SaaS solutions

  • Proven ability to influence cross-functional teams without formal authority

  • Experience presenting in front of executives, clients and prospects

  • Must be able to travel 20% of the time

  • Examples and at least one sample of an effective document delivered in the past

The Senior Manager role is responsible for managing activities related to their team, managing the productivity of their team, managing accounting close activities, developing strategies to improve customer aging, providing support for annual and quarterly financial audits, administration oversight for all cash application systems and partners, providing support for branch accounting related activities, and other controls as needed. RESPONSIBILITIES * Manage a team of approximately 25 employees with 2 to 3 direct reports * Create management reporting related to cash application volumes, payment exceptions, and customer scorecarding * Develop strategies for the company to improve financial metrics and the cash conversion cycle * Identify payment exceptions and work cross-functionally within the organization to remediate issues and minimize the financial impacts to the company * Manage communications and support requests from general accounting, internal and external audit partners, or post audit agencies * Responsible for maintaining accounting standards in accordance with GAAP and to adhere with internally driven accounting policies * Manage the relationship and negotiate contract of 3rd party service providers, subscription services, or other software * Responsible for the strategies to best create internal efficiencies or capitalize on 3rd party offerings related to any application, control, document storage, or other department solutions * Liaison between satellite branches, distribution facilities, sales, technology, and other finance teams for special projects; lead those projects on behalf of Accounts Receivable through to implementation WORK EXPERIENCE * 10+ years of professional accounts receivable experience, collections, and research * 5+ years of experience managing teams across multiple functional levels * Professional accounting experience, degree in Accounting/Finance, or public accounting required * Experience in various software programs required, Microsoft, SAP, Oracle, or other equivalent ERP required; SAP expericence preferred. * Project management experience preferred.
