Wolters Kluwer Tax & Accounting North America is looking for a Product Line Manager to join our Corporate Indirect Tax team in either our Kennesaw, GA or Coppell, TX office locations.

The Product Line Manager is responsible for a product line. This role develops long term plans, managing offerings from concept to market launch and eventual retirement. As a solution owner, the position is a representative expert for the rest of the organization on the market and must ensure that all departments are prepared for successful product delivery and go-to-market readiness.

This role will lead cross-functional teams and will manage a team of Product Owners and Product Managers. It is directly responsible for the financial management of the product suite's performance (includes pricing and discounting decisions) and customer experience of the product family. Maintains close relationship with the market (customers, evaluators, and potentials) for awareness of market needs and perspectives.

The Product Line Manager is responsible for executive level presentations on their product line direction and long-term plans, as well as developing business cases for buy/build decisions. They are responsible for understanding the competitive landscape not only from a feature functionality standpoint but also from a pricing methodology stand point.

Essential Duties and responsibilities

  • Execute our strategic vision for maximizing our share of the customer segment including product offerings, strategic alliances, and growth opportunities in conjunction with the Vice President of Product Management.

  • Create and implement product vision, direction, and business plans, including product plans, product migration and evolution, and product life cycle and retirement.

  • Create and maintain business case for current product family. Perform an objective analysis of a potential market opportunity and risks to provide a basis for investment.

  • Manage financial performance of product suite and make recommendations on opportunities for revenue growth, margin improvement and retention strategies.

  • Develop conceptual and evolutionary product plans that meet measurable benchmarks of customer satisfaction and will exceed customer expectations. This includes managing expense budget plans, developing business cases, identifying and assessing business opportunities and determining strategic fit conditioned by technical feasibility.

  • Manage contractual, technical, and consulting relationships with strategic partners and providers, including joint ventures and subsidiary relationships and projects.

  • Gather, validate, and evaluate product/market requirements through market and customer research, competitive and product research. Develop product roadmap to solve most pertinent market problems, creating a clear release strategy, setting and managing to quantifiable targets around sales growth and ongoing customer experience improvements.

  • Develop and deliver materials to the appropriate marketing and sales organizations which convey the purpose and details of the product, definition of its user, benefits to the customer, customization capabilities, and competitive comparison.

  • Work across the organization for successful launch of product offerings, coordinating activities including pricing, legal review, sales training and support readiness

  • Complete analysis on market size and growth, market share and account penetration by segment, and customer needs and purchase behaviors.

  • Maintain competitive assessments in order to understand competitive positioning for Sales and ultimately drive functionality for competitive takeaways.

  • Develop expertise of relevant market segments, market problems, customer workflows, competitive environment and industry trends.

  • Recommend overall pricing strategy for product line.

  • Document WK's value proposition to the market for your product suite and individual product lines.

  • Conduct win/loss analysis and customer interviews.

  • Collaborate with the Marketing team to define the go-to-market strategy, prioritize activities, and ensure product positioning properly reflects the features and benefits of the solution to the target buyers.

  • Work across the organization to drive improved customer experience; solving additional problems through additional functionality, reducing time to value via implementation and enhancing the technical support experience

  • Work with the Finance and Legal teams to ensure pricing policies, packaging, and contracts are appropriate and effective.

Education

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent required.

  • Marketing or business-related degree preferred

  • MBA degree preferred

Experience

  • 8+ years of Product Management or Marketing experience with preferred working experience in one or more of these areas:

  • Commercial Software Product Management

  • Fast growth SaaS solutions

  • Experience with Tax and Accounting solutions preferred

  • Experience with Pragmatic Marketing preferred

Other Knowledge, Skills, Abilities or Certifications:

  • Success deploying software product management best practices, e.g. Pragmatic Marketing or equivalent, to develop innovative and effective product strategies preferred

  • Experience in managing software products at all stages of their lifecycle preferred

  • Success at driving measurable improvements in customer experience

  • Demonstrated ability to create and execute annual business and product plans

  • Thorough understanding of financial concepts including revenue projections, costing, budgeting, etc.

  • Effective analytical and problem-solving skills

  • Demonstrated ability in market research (quantitative and qualitative)

  • Excellent written, verbal, communication, presentation and listening skills including preparing and presenting complex information to senior management and large groups

  • Advanced interpersonal skills

  • Lead cross-functionally through influence, develop strong relationships with internal and external constituents

  • Advanced data-driven decision-making ability

  • Proven ability to work within tight deadlines and manage multiple complex projects

  • Self-motivated and able to work independently

  • Strong Business acumen

Travel Requirements

  • Up to 30% travel required
