Job Description:

The Product Information Manager will partner on a global basis with Thomson stakeholders, IT staff and external service providers to cultivate and maintain a product information management solution to fuel revenue-producing applications and internal productivity improvements. Areas of responsibility will include oversight of system architecture, data taxonomies, governance and quality, workflows, and sustaining activities.

  • In close partnership with the Director of Marketing Communications and Manager of Software Development, take ownership of an existing product information management system which currently features the Stibo Step PIM integrated with customer applications, Open Text CMS, Oracle ERP & iStore, and customer data systems.

  • Supervise and/or collaborate with internal and external resources as appropriate to promote product information management as a strategic asset to drive top line growth and productivity management.

  • Share ownership with the marketing team for gaining intimacy with Thomson customer needs for information in addition to serving data needs required for commercialization projects

  • Create and manage product data taxonomies, database integrations, calculated attributes, business rules, related processes and corresponding outputs.

  • Provide strong direction on the quality of product data and collaborate on commercialization efforts to ensure that product data is complete, accurate, in suitable formats and ready for commercialization

  • Develop data quality specifications, procedures, and meaningful metrics to control product data flowing through the PIM database and related product data systems

  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to support price and lead time management

  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to gather, edit and load product data not already available via database integrations

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree with a business management, information technology and/or engineering background

  • 3 or more years experience working across multiple disciplines within a manufacturing production and B2B sales/service environment, converting business needs to technical and process requirements

  • 3 or more years experience managing processes heavily reliant on enterprise business database systems, e.g. Oracle EBS, SAP, and SalesForce.com

  • 3 or more years experience working in a global, multilingual, matrix environment

  • Experience locating and managing outside vendors, defining accountabilities and meeting cost and deadline targets

  • Strong knowledge of Thomson mechanical motion components, systems and customer applications preferred

  • U.S. person (ITAR definition) required. Non-U.S. and dual citizens may be restricted to specific programs

Responsibilities: * Makes resourcing decisions/assignments of Manufacturing Engineers to support production needs and advance manufacturing process * Responsible for building the Manufacturing Engineering Team while providing talent development plans to maximize individual and team growth as well as performance * Manages process technology development projects so that Quality, Delivery, and Cost targets are met * Establishes scope, develops project plans and manages manufacturing transitions and manufacturing knowledge transfer between sites * Manages Capital Equipment Funnel expenditures for site process improvements * Provides technical leadership in the areas of motor and electronics design for manufacturability and manufacturing process development * Actively monitors new manufacturing technology for potential use in manufacturing * Implements lean methods and variation reduction in existing process and in new product development.
