As part of a global organizational product and functional safety team, the safety specialist's role is key in supporting the safety managers with daily program activities as well as developing and maintaining process and procedure infrastructure.
Key Roles and Responsibilities
Collaborate with safety managers and other multi-functional team members supporting the development and maintenance of the Safety Plan, Safety Concept and other safety related deliverables
Support activities as defined by the BorgWarner Product and Functional Safety process in support of ISO 26262, IATF 16949 and other relevant standards or requirements
Perform activities as defined by the safety manager
Support the ongoing development and institutionalization of the safety process, work products and procedures
Continue ongoing education and training on safety standards and industry best-practices
Promote safety awareness and culture throughout the organization
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
4 year degree (preferably in engineering)
Currently active FSCAE/AFSP certification preferred but not required
Relevant work experience, in product development (ideally in an automotive safety related capacity)
Knowledge in Software Quality and process ( e.g., IATF16949, ASPICE, CMMI)
Knowledge with Products Development Life Cycles (Systems, Software)
Knowledge of Requirements Management tools ( e.g., DOORS, Polarion)
Strong communication (oral and written) and organization skills
Capable of multi-tasking assignments while maintaining customer timeframes
