Position Summary:

The Product Engineering Intern position requires project organizational skills and the ability to quickly master new concepts and solve problems with relevant experience designing and developing electrical and/or magnetic components and systems. Experience with magnetic finite element analysis and other simulation tools.

Essential Functions / Responsibilities:

  • Work with other Project Engineers to:

  • Evaluate, select, and apply components used in advanced magnetic components

  • Utilize and improve engineering models and tools to facilitate practical and effective magnetic component designs

  • Coordinate mechanical design activities

  • Coordinate validation testing of prototype designs

  • Translate customer technical requirements into cost effective magnetic designs

  • Coordinate and manage projects

  • Initiate and investigate new ideas to reduce harmonic distortion and EMI in modern power electronic systems resulting in new products and patents

  • Provide product engineering support for existing and modified products under the direction of Electrical Engineering Manager.

Business Support:

  • Participate in the development of advanced technology magnetic components for harmonic filters, active filters and output filters for AC drive and power electronics applications.

Performance, Metrics & Reporting:

  • Learn and perform engineering analysis and digital simulation leveraging advanced tools (CAD, FEA, statistical tolerance analysis, computational analysis - Matlab, etc.).

People Management:

  • Participate on cross-functional teams to address and resolve manufacturing, design, and quality problems, and ensure the continuous, on-going improvement of processes and methods.

  • Recommend product improvements and cost reductions

Knowledge, Skills & Experiences

The ideal candidate for the Product Engineer Intern position will have the following educational background and experience:

  • Pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.

  • Minimum of 0-3 years of experience.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Superb problem-solving skills and understanding of the scientific method
