Energy Metering (EMP) At A Glance The Energy Metering group is responsible for developing high-performance analog front ends (AFEs) for use in applications, such as smart energy meters and transmission and distribution equipment. These AFEs are responsible for performing the analog to digital conversion on the output of sensors such as shunts and current transformers, as well as providing additional digital functionality such as energy accumulation and power quality measurements.
Assist the product engineering team in working with the project manager, design, test, applications, marketing, software, reliability, manufacturing, and failure analysis teams as the product(s) move from design to completion, release, and high-volume production
Ability to take ownership of a moderately sized task related to product evaluation (debug, evaluation, characterization, qualification and final test)
Perform functional and performance test debug, create innovative test software and hardware, evaluate, characterize and analyze IC's across all operating conditions, document and present findings
Must be able to format, analyze, and reach valid conclusions from data and be able to present process/product improvement recommendations to the product team as required.
Utilize precision measurement equipment and apply measurement techniques and tools required to establish different mixed-signal performance metrics
Direct interaction with marketing and applications engineers to resolve product issues or to provide performance data
Enrolled in a BS or MS program in EE or ECE or equivalent relevant experience
Circuits knowledge that includes one or more of the following: analog circuits, power management circuits, signals and systems, ADCs, DACs, serial interfaces, microcontrollers, DSPs
Familiarity with performing circuit evaluation and characterization using bench test equipment including spectrum analyzers, oscilloscopes, signal generators
Working knowledge of programming languages such as LabVIEW, Python, and/or C
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Ability to solve complex problems through design of appropriate experiments and analysis of complex data
Strong time management and multi-tasking skills
Strong team worker within multi-discipline and multi-cultural environments
Capable of clear, accurate and timely communication both written and verbal
Knowledge of statistics and statistical process control
Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite applications
Knowledge of IC fabrication and process technology
Strong software skills
Familiarity with LabVIEW
Familiarity with printed circuit board design and layout
