Role Summary:The Avionics Product Engineer is responsible for design for manufacturability, design for testability, material cost performance, product configuration during qualification, oversight of product change, yield performance in manufacturing, and reliability in the field. This role requires knowledge of the full product life cycle for avionics equipment. This role is closely affiliated with manufacturing.

Essential Responsibilities:

This is a role centered around specific product types requiring deep product hardware knowledge and an understanding of product cost performance in manufacturing and product yield issues.

In this role you will:

Establish product and test configuration during environmental qualification to support product line objectives

Manage and approve all changes to product design after release to manufacturing

Collaborate with supply chain to improve product first time yield, test time, fault isolation, material cost performance

Review product design to ensure it will meet design for manufacturability and design for testability requirements and cost performance targets

Lead material cost reduction design activities

Collaborate with Product Area Leaders to manage full product life cycle


Basic Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited university or college

Minimum 5 years of Avionics engineering development and / or support experience in the military or commercial aerospace market

Desired Characteristics:

Master's degree in engineering an accredited university or college or equivalent knowledge and experience

The engineering technician position is part of the product engineering department that oversees the day to day support of operations as well as works new product development projects and other related engineering activity. This position provides exposure to testing, prototyping, manufacturing, drafting, engineering and many other opportunities. You will find in this position an environment where you will be able to make a real difference with amble opportunity to grow professionally. This position works under general engineering supervision and follows established procedures. Work is periodically monitored by the engineering manager or engineer and reviewed upon completion for soundness of technical judgment, overall accuracy, and thoroughness in meeting project technical requirements. The engineering technician may occasionally work with little or no supervision for extended periods. How you will do it * Provides basic assistance to engineering in problem resolution. Identifies hardware and software functionality. * Assist quality control effort with technical advice and up-to-date specifications on matters pertaining to delivered quality. * Assist in creating engineering print packages and executing engineering change orders. * Review blueprints for accuracy, review specifications and resolve design discrepancies. Other CAD-related tasks as determined by the department manager. * Maintain an orderly and clean work environment which includes carts, shop equipment and surrounding areas. * Understand and comply with all safety policies and procedures. * Assist in developing one-of-a kind models from verbal or written communication that may include sketches, assembly drawings or detailed drawings. * Set up and operate all necessary tooling to produce prototypes as instructed. * Uses hand tools, inspection and layout equipment including Dial Indicators, Micrometers, and coordinates Measuring Machine. * Works closely with Test Lab team to construct/assemble new equipment and instrumentation as required. * Gain safety certifications (UL) or other approvals as required. Evaluate deviations to standards. * Assist in developing, writing and maintaining any necessary or engineering procedures. * Troubleshoot nonconforming systems and components for manufacturing, service, test lab, etc. * Communicate technical information in written, verbal, and graphical form in a clear and precise manner. * Manages and monitors multiple projects in a rapidly changing environment. * Responsible for completion of assigned projects at or ahead of the target dates defined in the project plans. * Design new products or redesign existing products as assigned and build prototypes. * Evaluate and redesign product for improved process, quality and profitability. * Maintain responsibility for product design beyond production release. * Manages risks and establishes project recovery plans when required. * Resolves disputes with minimal need for escalation. * Provides guidance on internal and external resources required to meet project objectives. * Effectively communicates project progress, issues and financial status to management as required. * Provide required logistics and documentation support for the above duties in accordance with established company procedures and policies.
