Overview:

Our Senneca Redmond facility is looking for a Product Engineer who is innovative, methodical, has high attention to detail and experience in product design/development and engineering for manufacture. The Product Engineer will report to the Engineering Manager and be focused on evaluating our product offering for areas of improvement through innovation and DFMA (Design for Manufacturability and Assembly).

Responsibilities: Product Design:

  • Works with Engineering manager and Product Managers to design and re-design new and innovative products and features to better meet the needs of Operations (DFMA).

  • Works with Product Managers and Marketing Dept. to update and maintain accurate website documentation.

  • Responsible for installation instructions and troubleshooting guides.

  • Has responsibility for company product configurator maintenance and control. Works with Customer service and production to understand and implement configurator updates.

  • Reviews current products for cost reduction through DFMA.

  • Provide CAD and manufacturing engineering support to all team members for new manufacturing technology initiatives, equipment layout and start up, etc.

  • Owns the Customer Specific item management process and Product Rationalization process.

Product Development:

  • Assume the lead role (i.e., project manager) on new product development work, from concept-to-prototype-to-production.

  • Lead and/or assist in the identification of new manufacturing technologies for assisting the company to achieve its KPI’s.

  • Coordinate with Kaizen Promotion Officer and Process Engineer in Kaizen activities and any improvement projects that come out of them or other ideas from employees that would result in the redesign components.

Requirements:

  • Demonstrated product design/development experience.

  • Experience providing engineering support in a manufacturing environment.

  • Ability to produce detailed and accurate manufacturing drawings.

  • Ability to document and write simple and easy to understand instructions and procedure documents.

  • Ability to effectively communicate with internal and external customers.

  • Advanced user of 3D Parametric software (Inventor, CREO, SolidWorks).

  • Experience using AutoCAD.

  • Microsoft Office (especially Excel).

  • Ability to maintain a high level of attention to detail.

  • Ability to produce accurate, professional and error free reports in a timely manner.

  • Ability to effectively work as part of a team.

  • Familiarity with the engineering design process including conceptual and physical design, prototyping, support to procurement, engineering test, failure root-cause and PPAP and DFMA principles.

Required Education:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or similar disciplines.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Infor CSI (ERP) experience.

  • Critical Thinker with proven record of following systematic problem-solving techniques.

  • Demonstrates innovative and creative problem solving and design skills.

Travel Requirements:

No travel required on a regular basis.
