JOB SUMMARY
Reporting to the Director of Operations, the Manufacturing Engineer provides the necessary link between customer requirements and manufacturing processes. Develops and improves manufacturing methods, applies lean concepts and techniques to optimize processes.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTION
Assist with identifying and eliminating bottlenecks within the manufacturing process and recommending solutions.
Evaluates process flow and plant layout, recommending and implementing improvements and modifications in sequence of operations and equipment utilization to improve throughput, reduce labor and manufacturing costs.
Training staff on new equipment.
Preparing specifications, operator instructions and equipment manuals.
Design and develop Automation Processes/Machinery as needed to improve In-House Production as needed. This includes Design, drawing creation, BOMs, etc., utilizing SolidWorks. Examples include Handle Primary Bender, Handle Secondary Offset Bender, Automatic Washer Tapping Machine, Captive Assembly Machine, Automatic Nylon Patch/Pellet Machine.
Responsible for data collection of cycle times and tool wear.
Prepares, analyzes, and communicates to various departments production reports and other key metrics such as machine runtime and number of finished products and scrap.
Support QA on RMAs via failure analysis.
Recommends changes or upgrades to equipment, work methods, or other aspects of the process to improve efficiency and utilization of resources including labor, energy, and raw materials.
Aid in the development of any maintenance/building improvements.
Work with our CNC Lean Specialist to implement CNC automation initiatives.
SKILLS and ABILITIES
Proficient to excellent skills working in Solid Works, Windows OS & Microsoft Office Suite
Must be organized and have excellent prioritization skills.
Excellent communication skills to work with different departments within the organization.
Ability to multi-task, meet deadlines, & work well in a fast-paced environment
Strong analytical skills and material knowledge
Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities
Strong knowledge of raw materials and their properties, including but not limited to, stainless steel, super alloys, brass, aluminum, and steels.
Knowledge of manufacturing processes.
Ability to read and understand engineering component drawings.
Strong presentation skills.
EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE
Associate or bachelor's degree in engineering.
Three (3) years of experience in a manufacturing environment.
Strong technical and analytical ability.
Project management and organizational skills preferred.
Manufacturing experience in lean and cell manufacturing.
Machining and CNC programming knowledge a plus
