What you will do
Are you an entry level Engineer looking for a large company that offers career advancement opportunities, as well as an opportunity to work with cutting edge products and technologies? Look no further, because Johnson Controls is seeking a new grad interested in product engineering and design! As a Product Engineer, you will be responsible for new product designs and improving existing product designs for commercial air distribution products using engineering principles and Solidworks. This position is based in Plano, TX.
You will also get the chance to learn how to support new product introduction, and sustain existing product, in the pressure independent flow control valves used in labs, isolation rooms and hospital operating rooms. These are complex products with endless opportunities to learn and grow in your knowledge and experience. We also have an in-house testing facility!
How you will do it
Create parts, assemblies, and drawings in SolidWorks modeling software including the use of
DriveWorks or VBA to automate the creation of SolidWorks files to document new product designs. This includes checking files in/out of SolidWorks PDM.
Create drawings and BOM's for missing or outdated product documentation.
Respond to ECR's by releasing drawing and modeling packages on schedule.
Responsible for product design and engineering deliverables.
Work as a project manager on simple or minor projects and simple or standard engineering changes (EC's)
Conduct product reviews and QC audits
Answer basic questions about critical environment products from manufacturing engineers at the production facilities.
Interface with manufacturing plants and Manufacturing Engineers to ensure design specifications are maintained, eliminate waste, and recommend design adjustments and improvements.
Create and monitor status reports and charts utilizing Microsoft Word and Excel.
Initiate and supervise any required prototype and/or test model development.
Test, evaluate and compare competitor's products, materials, designs, performance and
application.
Generate technical reports, graphs and marketing illustrations to define/illustrate system performance and operating characteristics.
What you will need
Required
Bachelor's Degree (B.S.) in Mechanical, Electrical or Aerospace engineering from an accredited
four-year College or University.
Hands-on practical work experience either from internships and/or educational project work
Solidworks experience
Strong Excel experience
