At STANLEY Infrastructure Product Engineers works on complex problems in a multi-disciplined team environment resulting in the introduction of new and improved tools and accessories.

The Product Engineer in the New Products role takes a product from concept to production resulting in the introduction of new and improved tools and accessories.

This role is responsible to:

  • Develop and deliver market driven products in a fast paced collaborative environment that meet customer and manufacturing requirements.

  • Engineer mechanical components, subsystems and assemblies from specification through design, analysis, and validation testing.

  • Ensure that designs are technically and commercially viable and can be reliably manufactured within cost targets.

  • Maintaining dedication and focus on a few projects simultaneously for 1 to 2 years before products are launched.

Education: BS Mechanical Engineering with a strong foundation of engineering principles and the Fundamentals of Statics & Dynamics

Experience: 0 -5 Years; with experience in 3D modeling

Responsibilities & Capabilities: Demonstrated or Potential capability to perform the following functions under supervision or guidance:

  • Listening, and Communicating (both verbal and written) within the team.

  • Collaborate with and support production with necessary assembly drawings and product details.

  • Partner with manufacturing and suppliers to support technical activities.

  • Partner with Quality function to review and approve First Article Inspections, product deviation approvals, quality audits, CTQ definitions.

  • Develop selected concepts into mechanically sound products keeping ergonomics and human interface in mind throughout development.

  • Hands-on work in the engineering test lab and on the shop floor may be required as well.

  • Participate in manufacturing trials, lab testing and field trials.

  • DFMEA.

  • Linear Tolerance Analysis.

  • Participate in structured problem Solving (8D, Shainin, 5-Why) demonstrating strong critical thinking and problems solving.

  • Make recommendations for engineering changes to products.

  • Assist in the development of product patents.

  • Create 3D models representing product designs (Pro-E Preferred).

  • Create detailed 2D CAD drawings using acceptable practices/standards, including GD&T which can be interpreted and used to produce products correctly (Pro-E Preferred).

  • Document and control 3D & 2D via PLM Software (Windchill Preferred).

  • Use Microsoft Office Products (Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint).

  • Complete documentation of design reviews, test results, assembly data sheets, bill of materials (BOMs) and other information as required.

  • Drive and coordinate the notification and release of new items, product changes, drawing corrections, part/tool obsolescence and BOM updates throughout the organization using our Product Change Notice (PCN) Process.

  • Following established processes throughout the organization.

  • Other duties as assigned by Engineering Manager.


  • Represent the Company at a high professional level both internally and externally.

  • Ability to concentrate and performing complex tasks for sustained periods.

  • Ability to work at a desk as well as in a manufacturing environment.

  • Able to work in a fast paced environment; under pressure and within project deadlines.

  • Follow as Safety postings and rules throughout the factory.

  • Job may require occasional exposure to dust, fumes, noise, hydraulic oil, gasoline and exposure to dangers of working in industrial settings.

  • Ability to perform physical work and lift up to 40 pounds.

  • Must be willing and able to travel domestic and internationally.
