Product Engagement is an increasingly important function for any subscription-based product, particularly for local news. We know that in order to develop relationships with our communities and showcase value to our customers, we need strong engagement at each level of our funnel. This role is key to executing our strategy.
As Product Engagement Manager, you will join a cross-functional department driven by the mission of developing the best product experiences to grow and retain paying subscribers for McClatchy's local news organizations. Specifically, you will use data and research to guide on-platform experiences based on where someone is in our audience loyalty funnel, ensuring that they are met with the right personalized experiences, calls to action, promotions and editorial features. You will be comfortable thinking strategically while also connecting strategy to tactics, and you'll be able to balance the news and information needs of our audience with the marketing and sales needs of our business.
Execute our strategy to deliver personalized on-site experiences to specific audience segments
Operate our system for managing on-site experiences, choosing specific tactics based on audience development goals as well as customer needs
Manage tools and vendor relationships for product engagement tactics
Work closely with news and marketing teams to identify, test and implement new product engagement tactics
Study and report regularly on how engagement tactics are performing
Work cross-functionally with designers, product managers and others to guide user journeys for products and features
Create product engagement plans, as needed, for new and existing products
Make decisions for on-site experiences based on user analytics, research and Voice of the Customer data
3+ years of product marketing, audience development and/or product management experience
Experience analyzing data to form hypotheses and measure success
Ability to translate goals into actionable and measurable tactics
Ability to balance business goals with consumer needs
Keen understanding of best practices for developing audiences and creating desired user experiences
Experience working in a test-and-iterate culture
Experiencing managing audience engagement, audience segmentation or growth plans
Experience working in a news organization, highly desirable
