Designs, validates and brings new products to market | Specifies precise new product functional requirements; designs, tests and integrates components to produce final designs; and evaluates the design's overall effectiveness, cost, reliability and safety | Designs, develops, executes and evaluates fitness-for-use testing, product specifications and process validation plans; creates and reviews material part specifications and bills of materials | Collaborates with internal manufacturing partners, contract manufacturers, designers and product specialists to optimize designs for manufacturability | Utilizes CAD (Computer Aided Design) or CAE (Computer Aided Engineering) systems to model new designs and produce detailed engineering drawings
The primary function or overall purpose of this position.
Documentation and Record Keeping:
o Maintain thorough documentation of electrical designs, quotes, BOMs, and related project data.
o Ensure that all documentation is organized, accessible, and up to date.
o Conduct quality checks on electrical designs to ensure accuracy and reliability.
o Participate in design reviews to identify and address potential issues early in the process.
o Stay current with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in electrical engineering.
o Identify opportunities for process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy in electrical design and quoting.
Performance Dimensions:
Measurable statistics that this position impacts such as production expenses, maintenance expenses, sales volumes, payroll costs, capital expenditures, research budgets, cost of purchases, value of inventories controlled, total revenues and expenses audited.
Quote Accuracy and Competitiveness – Percentage of quotes that accurately reflect project costs.
BOM Management – Accuracy of Bills of Materials (BOMs) created in the ERP system.
Customer Satisfaction – Customer feedback and satisfaction scores related to the electrical design and quoting process. Resolution time for customer inquiries and technical support requests.
Cost Control – Variance between estimated and actual project costs. Cost reduction initiatives implemented in electrical design and quoting processes.
Process Improvement – Number of process improvement suggestions implemented. Measurable improvements in efficiency and accuracy within the electrical design and quoting processes.
Cross-functional Collaboration – Feedback from other departments (e.g., engineering, production) on the effectiveness of collaboration with the Electrical Application Engineer. Resolution time for cross-functional issues related to electrical design and quoting.
Quality Assurance – Reduction in design errors leading to product defects. Reduction in customer complaints related to electrical design.
Adherence to Standards and Regulations: Compliance with industry standards and regulations (e.g., NEC, UL) in electrical design. Audit results related to regulatory compliance.
Must have:
480K Power Distribution and Electrical Product Design Experience
Bachelor Degree required-Electrical Engineer
