Scope: In this position, you will have the opportunity to be responsible for evaluating and supporting current and future product offerings for Specialty Agriculture and Ornamental Horticulture market channels, utilizing agronomic research techniques.
You will contribute to the ideation and concept development efforts for new products or services to enhance ICL SF's product offering by:
Collaborating with sales, marketing and technical services to establish a pipeline of ideas.
Conducting desk research to inform current standing and future direction of the business from agronomic scientific perspective.
Identifying new / emerging materials, technologies and approaches and vetting them through experimentation and technical evaluation.
Collaborating with ICL global R&D to share ideas and results of concept screening
You will design, conduct, analyze and report on research trials along with align experimental design to support the intended use of data. (Examples: prototype concept screening; competitive performance measurements; and replicated independent research trials for publication.) You will interpret data and make clear and concise recommendations in a timely manner. You will also effectively build strong working relationships with:
University Researchers and Extension professionals
Internal and external regulatory professionals
Industry or trade professionals
You will collaborate with R&D Engineers and Chemists to bring quality improvements, cost savings, advanced claims to the existing portfolio. You will also support fellow R&D staff on their project activities.
You will work collaboratively with Regulatory and Marketing to establish use sites, application methods, claims, directions for use, etc. that will be communicated on product labels or in marketing and sales materials.
We are looking for a hands-on contributor in this role. For example, this job will require some physical labor to conduct field trials; run lab testing; and preparation of samples / prototypes. This position will involve data collection and data entry; writing reports and generation of other documentation necessary for the business.
What you need:
PhD in Plant Science, Horticulture, Agronomy, or related field; OR Masters Degree in Plant Science, Horticulture, Agronomy, or related field with a minimum of three years of business / industry experience with agrochemicals, fertilizers or agriculture/horticulture.
Experience with fertilizers / plant nutrition is required.
Strong understanding of experimental design and statistical analysis.
Demonstrated experience designing and conducting applied research.
Project leadership experience.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Strong communication and presentation skills.
Ability to manage time and priorities independently.
Ability to make informed judgments and make decisions of a complex nature.
Ability to lead and work on cross functional teams.
Able to lead individuals in group consensus / decision making process.
Proficiency in the use of Excel, PowerPoint and Word.

Prior experience with product development.
A minimum of three years of business / industry experience with agrochemicals, fertilizers or agriculture/horticulture industry.
