THE ROLE: PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT PROJECT MANAGER - SUPPLEMENTS - REMOTE - CALIFORNIA

Stingray Direct is a direct-to-consumer, large-scale, performance-based e-commerce company. We are seeking a full-time, remote Product Development Project Manager who loves the details, gets excited about planning, and thinks about risks that may get in the way. You transition effortlessly between details and the big picture. 

This role requires equal parts planner, problem solver, analytical thinker, relationship facilitator, and cheerleader. You have a deep understanding and experience within the supplement (health and wellness) industry, developing effective workflow systems and implementing the best project management methodologies. You thrive in an ever-changing environment and know how to adapt your approach when working with people from different disciplines (Creative, Product Development, Analytics, Strategy, Technical, Executive/Leadership, etc.) 

This role reports directly to the Senior Project Manager and will support all Omni-channel brand initiatives.


THE PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT PROJECT MANAGER CANDIDATE
You are a strong team player obsessed with organization, problem-solving, proactivity, and building new processes (without over-processing). You always consider contingencies and keep options in your back pocket for those just-in-case situations.

The team relies on you to keep tabs on everything going on, and you always succeed in delivering the goods; you have a keen attention to detail that helps keep people organized and on task. You excel at distilling complex issues into digestible summaries for all levels of the organization. KEY PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT PROJECT MANAGER RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Responsible for all phases of new product development and product reformulation processes from discovery to commercialization
  • Ensure formulations are high quality, cost-effective, efficacious, and meet brand guidelines
  • Scale projects based on the determined targets and goals
  • Lead cross-functional teams in the development and commercialization of products - ensure that all projects are delivered on time, within budget, and strategy. Work with the Senior Project Manager to create project plans that seamlessly integrate workstreams between all Product Development, Operations, Creative, and Marketing processes and functions
  • The Product Development Project Manager will work with the onboarded vendor roster while identifying new manufacturers and suppliers to potentially transition current products and create new products and product lines 
  • Continuously grow manufacturer base and capabilities 
  • Develop project plans, timelines, budgets, deliverables, success criteria, and estimates for all product development and reformulation-related projects and initiatives 
  • Work with strategic partners to identify novel ingredients, products, and formats for current and future health and wellness brands 
  • Stay cognizant of potential sourcing supply issues to prevent production complications
  • Understand domestic industry regulations (FDA, FTC, FPLA , 21 CFR). Understand manufacturing practices and quality management requirements 
  • Maintain communications and meeting documentation, including status and financial updates, project plans, QA ticketing, and asset management
  • Work with Marketing and Product Development to generate new product ideas and sourcing options
  • Provide solutions to maintain consistent supply and avoid market price fluctuations where possible
  • Prepare product formula and packaging specifications for quotations and negotiate pricing and MOQs
  • Interface with both internal and external partners; remove barriers by pre-emptively identifying and mitigating project risks
  • Provide thought leadership on process improvements and new process builds, i.e., product launch process, to ensure scalability. Identify opportunities to ensure swift and accurate execution of project plans
  • Identify, manage, and eliminate project barriers or risks to ensure project health
  • Continually problem-solve and negotiate to push projects to the desired outcome

Requirements

PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT PROJECT MANAGER CAPABILITIES + SKILLS REQUIRED

  • Must be Located in California
  • Bachelor's degree in project management, business, or related field, or a combination of education and equivalent work experience
  • 3-5 years of wellness/supplement consumer product development with a minimum of three (3) years with project management
  • Must understand manufacturing, packaging, copywriting, and consumer trends/behavior in the wellness/supplement space
  • E-commerce experience is highly preferred
  • Dynamic problem solver - comfortable challenging assumptions and offering solutions with incomplete information
  • Transparent, open communicator - an exceptional listener who can read between the lines
  • Ability to balance competing interests and ensure all objectives across multiple projects are met on time
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and self-motivated, with an ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Great technical prowess with Excel and other MS Office products, experience with project management software (Asana, Hive, Wrike, Microsoft Project, etc.).
  • Background and strong interest in process development and project management principles
  • PMP certification is not required but is a plus
