D.R. Horton, Inc. is currently looking for a Product Development Manager. The right candidate will be responsible for the management and coordination of all architectural design and construction document development for new communities.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Oversee activities to develop and maintain a library of house plans that can be continuously redeployed to maximize homebuilding revenue and streamline construction costs

  • Verify and maintain final site layouts for each community

  • Engage and manage outside architects and designer/decorators in the development of new economically feasible plans and new product implementation

  • Review architectural plans for builder's predetermined construction compliance details as well as aesthetics and style

  • Coordinate site planning with land development/civil engineering to best select and site houses and attendant utility and road infrastructure

  • Verify that architectural, structural engineering and other pertinent drawings are prepared to code, accurate and actionable in the field

  • Work closely with job site personnel to coordinate throughout construction, handle plan changes, respond to plan discrepancies and/or questions and facilitate correspondence between outside architects and job site personnel

  • Oversee the preparation of accurate sales collateral detailing house plans and features

  • Assist in the coordination of plan changes and/or plan corrections with other company departments to include Purchasing, Marketing, Sales, Operations and Construction

  • Aid in the creation and implementation of purchasing processes identifying community specific requirements and option programs

  • Working with the Development Project Managers, engineers, architects and consultants to obtain final plans for bidding process

  • Implement programs to improve architectural design, best practices, and material and time saving efforts

  • Conducts all business in a professional and ethical manner to serve customers and increase the goodwill and profit of the company

  • Maintain effective working relationships with customers, contracted vendors and suppliers, and other department employees

  • Support the quality assurance process by reviewing quality issues and implementing corrective measures to improve product design as required

  • Oversee product development meetings with all related departments and outside consultants as required

  • Develop and maintain an updated scope of services document for outside architectural firms that includes all contract requirements, design and working drawing requirements

  • Maintain awareness of market trends

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • Supervises 2 or more employees

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university

  • Must have a vehicle, a valid driver's license

  • Strong verbal and written skills, and ability to communicate clearly and concisely

  • Ability to understand and read construction plans and documents

  • Experience managing and supervising activities of direct reports

  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written oral form or via DRH applications

  • Proficiency with MS Office and email

  • Ability to sit for majority of 8-hour workday; use hands to finger, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; talk and hear. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and peripheral vision

  • Licensed Architect

  • Construction field experience preferred
