WHAT IS THE JOB?

The Product Development Engineer / Project Manager (Project Engineer) is accountable for new product development projects. The Project Engineers primary responsibility is to evaluate new product manufacturing opportunities, work with customers to define product requirements and design for manufacturability, and manage new product development projects to achieve customer satisfaction, quality manufacturing, and new business in the interest of the company. There are no direct reports for this role.

SALARY: $80k+ annually, paid bi-weekly

Requirements

  • Successful completion of four-years of high school, or equivalent, plus completion of four years of college with a bachelors degree, preferably with a bachelor or masters of Science in Engineering.

  • 1+ years of Project Managementexperience, plus 3+ years of experiencein manufacturing and/or medical device industry, or any combination of education and experience that provides equivalent knowledge, skills and abilities.

  • Solid modeling experience using SolidWorks (or similar design software).

  • Demonstrated knowledge of root cause analysis, design of experiments, statistical analysis, problem solving techniques, and/or other data-driven skill sets.

  • Proven ability to prioritize multiple projects and meet delivery dates in a fast-paced customer manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for managing new product development projects, coordinating with customers, sales, quality, operations, etc. to achieve project goals. The Project Engineer will be involved with all aspects of assigned projects from concept to sign-off, as well as, long-term customer support.

  • Leads the development of complete manufacturing solutions; including process innovation, determination and design of required tools and equipment, and proof-of-concept.

  • Project pre-execution responsibilities include working with Sales Teams, Operations, Quality Assurance, and estimating Engineers to evaluate opportunities and ensure proposals serve the customer and company.

  • Must effectively plan, direct, coordinate, communicate and report internally to his/her team and externally to the customer. Must be able to hold all parties accountable to schedule and deliverables.

  • Develops and manages project timelines to manage work scope and stay on plan.

  • Provides technical support to Quality Assurance to meet customer expectations for quality.

  • Writes, reviews, and executes validation and qualification (IQ/OQ/PQ) protocols for new equipment, processes, and products.

  • Completes projects, report status, and document results in an efficient manner. Keeps immediate supervisor and designated others accurately informed concerning work progress, including identifying present and future problems and solutions.

  • Creates manufacturing process documentation, to include drawings, manufacturing procedures, operator work instructions, and troubleshooting guides.

  • Utilizes good verbal and written communication skills to report project status to team members and management, productively interface with customers and suppliers, and document lessons learned.

JOB TITLE:                        Manufacturing Manager                          REPORTS TO:                   General Manager                     CLASSIFICATION:            Exempt                                               POSITION SUMMARY: The Lubrizol Montana site seeks to a Manufacturing Manager. This position reports directly to the General Manager and is responsible for the direction, strategy, planning and execution for the company’s manufacturing operations to ensure on-time delivery of high quality medical device products that conform to customer specifications.   ESSENTIAL DUTIES * Responsible for the manufacturing of high quality customer ordered items and the on-time delivery of those items that conform to customer specifications. * Manages all material and inventory of raw materials, work in process and on hand inventory to minimize working capital investment and maximize free cash flow to the company.  * Manages to minimize material usage variance, scrap and rework. * Develops manufacturing leadership to operate to exacting standards for quality, on-time delivery, employee safety, manufacturing costs and efficiencies, healthy employee relations for maximum employee engagement. * Responsible for the scheduling function and process to ensure that adequate sub-component inventory and end item manufacture consistently result in on-time delivery of product to customer. * Responsible for purchasing function and supplier management to ensure that there are no supply chain interruptions to customer on-time delivery. * Works closely with and updates the management team on the status of customer shipments to sales forecast. * Manages effectively the scheduling and manufacturing process to reduce customer lead times and maintain and acceptable backlog of orders. * Works closely with Manufacturing Engineers in seeking manufacturing process improvements, cycle time reductions and ways to reduce manufacturing costs through the application of lean manufacturing principles. * Responsible for cost effective logistics and timely shipping of customer product, warehousing of inventory, Kanban definition and implementation when required. * Responsible for identification and development of a high potential successor candidate. * Observe and promote company standards and policies on safety, quality and productivity.   DIRECT REPORTS:    * Manufacturing Engineers * Process Technicians * Customer Service * Purchasing Manager * Production Supervisors   HIRING GUIDELINES: * Successful completion of four-years of high school, or equivalent, plus completion of four years of college with a bachelor’s degree preferably in engineering, manufacturing or business administration. Exposure to lifting more than 50 pounds is rare (if ever).
