The Development Engineer I will assist in water cooled, centrifugal-chiller product development, validation, and launch. Alongside the above deliverable, will be a focus in technology integration into existing and future platforms.
A Day in the Life:
Technical System Development of HVAC equipment using engineering fundamentals such as heat transfer, fluid dynamics and mechanical analysis.
Integral part of a fast-paced stage gate development process and reporting out on progress to upper management.
Collaborate with Product management to translate requirements into product.
Supporting the design, integration, and validation of the following subsystems:
Single & multi-stage, centrifugal compressors
Refrigeration system piping
Tube and shell HX (evaporator / condenser applications)
Economized, multistage compression systems.
Assist in the integration and validation of the follow subsystems:
1 & 2 phase cooled VFDs.
Chiller controls hardware and software.
Give technical input to create concepts and develop system prototypes.
Collaborate closely with CAD designers to model architecture of new product.
Collaborate with advanced simulation teams to perform FEA and CFD analysis of design.
Coordinate with manufacturing and supply chain personnel to ensure manufacturability of product.
Provide Manufacturing support for Concept and Prototype unit builds.
Oversight of laboratory testing; including creation of test plans, direction during testing and analysis of data collected during testing.
Initiate and obtain agency and regulatory approval status for new product (UL, ETL, CRN, ASME, CE, etc)
Making technical and product decisions throughout the development process.
