Position Summary:
As a member of the corporate Glass Engineering & Technology team, you will provide technical and engineering support for corporate technical projects, with a focus on Corelle glass materials analysis, new product development and manufacturing process improvements. The position will provide knowledge of manufacturing processes and materials science to work with plant personnel and corporate Marketing to develop, trial and run production of new products and integrate new materials and technology into manufacturing.
Primary Responsibilities:
Provide assistance with glass raw materials testing and qualification for all manufacturing plants
Become subject matter expert on Corelle shape forming
Interface with manufacturing, marketing, corporate engineering / NPD, procurement, and Sr. Leadership teams to develop new Corelle products:
Define existing process capabilities and constraints
Ensure compliance to project budgets, timelines, and procedures are run in accordance with documentation, contracts, and business objectives
Order all necessary type equipment to support product development
Coordinate with Plant and Corporate Safety and Environmental teams as required
Assist in business case development
Lead new product production trials within Corning plant
Ensure successful process transfer to manufacturing
Understand and document SOPs
Ensure adherence to required BMS and Quality systems
Investigate/recommend/execute/validate new process capabilities and equipment.
Investigate, recommend, and validate material improvements and new vendor relationships
Identify and develop equipment succession plans where needed
Provide type equipment expertise and technology advancement
Conduct technical update reviews with the plants and management teams as required and update documentation
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree (4 yrs.) in Engineering - Mechanical, Materials, Electrical, Industrial or Chemical.
At least 5 years' experience in manufacturing disciplines, preferably in glass or ceramic operations
Strong understanding of machinery and mechanical design of the production process
Proficient in Microsoft Products
Basic understanding of Design of Experiments (DOE) and Design for Six Sigma (DFSS) is a plus
Proficient in Solid Works and other design programs is a plus
Comp range: $68,200-$110,000 (potential 10% bonus)
