Organizational Structure:

The Product Development Associate, Women's Wovens reports directly to the Product Development Manager.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with Design to ensure products are executed with design specifications. Ensure Development execution is in accordance with the Mill / Vendor Brand strategy.

  • Partner with Raw Materials team to allocate and track yardage, raw materials, and trims.

  • Responsible for design based initiatives: managing the development calendar/timelines to ensure accuracy in the approval process and meeting all deliverables: level set priorities with cross-functional teams accordingly.

  • Continuously communicate to all team members on, timing, calendar, product updates, approvals, and issues.

  • Counter-source and provide options to design where necessary to ensure global margin goals are attainable for production execution.

  • Anticipate and identify any potential obstacles in the development process and facilitate the effective resolution of issues by partnering with cross functional teams.

  • Identify and maintain seasonal development metrics using global line plans. Responsible for maximum style/cc development ratios at the category level and also managing Design capacity

  • Partner with Sourcing, Production teams for challenges and issues while maintaining brand standards.

  • Partner with Production Teams and Allocate design prototypes based on mill/vendor strategies

  • Manage data on linesheets to ensure integrity and accuracy of the information

  • Execute and deliver on assigned seasonal pipeline department activities:

  • Issuing development PO's

  • Requesting, tracking, reviewing both PROTO & SMS costing

  • Tracking Labdips and Maintaining Standards/Approval Library

  • Tracking All prototypes

  • Tracking and Allocating SMS raw materials and ensuring color/material standards have been met.

  • Dual Costing/Counter-sourcing

  • Managing deadlines and logistics of ALL markets SMS

  • Responsible for Style Detail Handover to Production: color, quality, trim, samples.

  • Communicate and direct seasonal design development calendar, product development, price requirements and needs to Vendors

  • Manage sample room handoff and workflow for fits, proto's, SMS remakes/fixes based on priorities which includes timing & fabric in factory dates.

Qualifications

  • Degree in Merchandising/Product Development, Design or equivalent years of experience

  • Must have five (4) years of experience in product development, design or production in garment manufacturing

  • Demonstrated ability to work in a multi-cultural and high paced environment

  • Ability to partner cross functionally and build strong working relationships with respect

  • Exceptionally strong problem solving and negotiating skills

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, including meeting facilitation and process implementation

  • Demonstration of a high level of organization in the product development process

  • Strong experience in use of programs such as Word, Excel, Outlook

  • Strong ability to be proactive and prioritize

  • Solution oriented and strong initiative

  • Results oriented, willingness to go above and beyond

Responsibilities The Product Development Assistant assembles and coordinates the details of the seasonal product development process and helps a cross-functional team that includes Design, Merchandising and Production, to plan, create and execute product lines. * Keep track of all development reporting requirements including line plan analysis, timing and action tracking, calendar actualization, and developed versus adopted reports in order to achieve target adoption rate and improve the development process for future seasons * Research multiple fashion sources to stay current on emerging trends and identify the key trends to adapt them into wearable styles for assigned group * Assist in development of seasonal product strategies for category with Design, Merchandising and Production teams, including trend identification, color palette, concept, category, style, costing and pricing; balance key items/fashion/basics; track costing and retail pricing framework to maximize consumer value; record previous best sellers and application in current, trend-appropriate assortments * Assist in coordinating complete product development packages * Maintain seasonal costing templates * Present development sheets to the supervisor for approval and partner with vendors specifying what pieces are being required for product development * Acquire knowledge of development sheets and the material, color, and construction of pieces * Attend and take detailed notes at product review meetings, including edits, board review, pre-costing and post-season reviews, and fittings; track checklist of any or all legal requirements, including placement of goods in approved facilities * Enter data processes into various systems and ensure the integrity of the information * Perform any other support duties to ensure that product development activities meet timeline and quality goals set by the supervisor * Maintains on time development of product. * Monitors corporate calendar and tracks adherence to ensure timely turnover of development, receipt of proto and market samples. * Monitors calendar weekly to promote flow of designs and materials and takes corrective action to accelerate late development and issues that would cause delays. Updates management of items adversely affecting calendar. SOURCING: * Continually sources affordable, trend appropriate materials for use in line through direct supplier contact, tradeshows, factories, and agents. Visits retail and factories regularly to stay abreast of material and construction trends applicable to the brand. * Develops materials with suppliers based on design direction, within design esthetic and budget. * Supports sourcing alternate manufacturing venues to achieve design, production, product development, merchandising and financial strategies and to maintain a balanced factory base for adequate capacity and technique options. DEVELOPMENT: * Manage the flow of specs, proto, and sample materials for timely, accurate, and profitable execution of product designs. * Attends and participates in all concept, development, market and trend meetings for the brand. * Reviews and communicates style and material minimums and lead-times to PD Manager, Design and Merchandising * Track and review proto samples initial costing * Tracks all Line Adoption samples and SRS samples within time constraints.
