About the Role
The Product Development and Sourcing Manager works to provide a product that meets the needs of the regional markets, fits with targeted trends, and is delivered on time at the lowest total cost with the utmost quality standards. You will acquire, license, or develop new products, managing vendor relationships, and resolving vendor production and quality issues. You will establish and implement sourcing strategies and policies while being the functional category expert.
You will report to the Director of Fashion and Gifts Sourcing
Develop and commercialize product prototypes following merchandising line plan and product brief specifications
Manage the daily activities within the category product management which includes collaborating with Design, Merchandising, Planning, S&Q and Technical Design to ensure that the final product meets development plan and hits costs targets
Oversee sourcing, obtain best costs from competing vendors through RFPs, allocate and award business to vendors
Engineer product to meet margin-related goals and safety and quality testing standards while achieving design aesthetic
Identify potential vendors and on board and develop new vendors following corporate vendor strategies
Oversee all product development projects within the category, including generating final specifications and ensuring all product data is entered and maintained into PLM system
Review prototypes from sampling stages to ensure design and quality meets standards, review final inspection reports on all shipments and advise corrective action plans if needed
Manage resolution of issues with suppliers as it relates to quality concerns that may arise from inspection failures, production issues affecting delivery schedules, and pricing and invoice discrepancies
5+ years experience in mass market product development, sourcing or purchasing environments at a jewelry or watch brand.
Previous experience working with overseas vendors
Costume/fashion jewelry product development experience
Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university
Knowledge of jewelry manufacturing process
Prior history reviewing BOM (bill of materials) and understanding cost drivers
Experience negotiating product development and merchandising details with vendors
Enjoys collaborating with diverse teams, including Design, Product Engineering, Quality Assurance, Merchandising, and Planning
Advanced skill sets within Microsoft Excel
