Who we are:

Spot Pet Insurance is the fastest growing pet insurance company in North America. Our commitment to an exceptional end-to-end customer experience and our data-driven approach have quickly established us as a leading pet insurance provider.

We're dedicated to providing pet parents with peace of mind by offering accessible and comprehensive coverage so their furry companions can lead happier, healthier lives. To demonstrate this, we recently joined forces with MrBeast to find homes for 100 homeless pets and committed to giving each of them pet insurance for life!

Along the way, we’ve created a company culture that allows our employees to thrive, with perks like daily free meals, a pet-friendly office, and ridiculously fun company events every quarter. Our dedication to fostering a positive and rewarding work environment for our team has even earned us a Great Place to Work®️ certification.

About the role:

We are searching for a talented and passionate Product Designer to join our growing team. You will play a critical role in the entire product development lifecycle, collaborating closely with the Data team to translate data insights into user-centric design solutions, and the Engineering team to ensure those solutions can be translated into functional digital products.

In this role, you'll be instrumental in crafting a seamless user experience across various touch-points. This includes:

  • Guiding users towards pet insurance coverage: You'll design compelling landing pages that effectively capture user attention and encourage them to get quotes.
  • Optimizing our quote form for conversions: By collaborating with Data Analysts and utilizing A/B testing, you'll streamline the quote process, minimize user friction, and ultimately drive policy purchases.
  • Enhancing the mobile experience for policyholders: You'll help design a user-friendly native mobile app that empowers policyholders to conveniently submit claims for their pets and receive real-time updates on the claim status.

Our Product Designers do more than just craft stunning visuals; they work hand-in-hand with the engineering team to make sure designs are both attractive and technically viable. This collaboration guarantees that the final products are not only user-friendly but also technically sound and scalable.

You will also play a crucial role in upholding and enhancing our design system and component libraries to ensure uniformity and efficiency across all digital interfaces. By following our design principles and actively contributing to the evolution of our design system, you will help maintain a cohesive user experience.

When transitioning designs to development, you will provide detailed documentation, including annotations to specify functionalities and requirements clearly. You will also partner with engineers during the quality assurance phase to spot and rectify any issues or inconsistencies.

Responsibilities:

  • Partner with the Data Department team to analyze user research findings and translate data insights into actionable design decisions.
  • Work closely with Data Analysts and Researchers to understand user behavior, pain points, and motivations.
  • Utilize data visualizations and reports to inform design choices and ensure solutions address user needs.
  • Craft wireframes and low-fidelity prototypes to translate user insights into initial design concepts.
  • Design high-fidelity mockups and prototypes using design software.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (engineering, product management, marketing) to bring design ideas to life.
  • Participate in user testing and iterate on designs based on feedback.
  • Stay up-to-date on design trends and best practices.

Requirements

Qualifications:

  • A portfolio showcasing your design work and process
  • Proven experience as a Product Designer or similar role
  • Strong understanding of user-centered design principles
  • Excellent UI/UX design skills with proficiency in WebFlow and Figma
  • Ability to effectively translate data insights into clear and intuitive designs
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to bridge the gap between design and data analysis
  • Detail oriented and organized
  • Can confidently pitch design work to stake holders

Bonus points:

  • Experience with Contentful CMS
  • Experience with data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, VWO, DataDog)
  • Experience working in an Agile development environment

Benefits

What we offer:

  • The opportunity to work on challenging and impactful projects at the intersection of design and data.
  • A collaborative and supportive work environment, recognized as a Great Place to Work®️.
