What types of problems do we work on?

We're helping the actual human people running small and medium-sized companies grow their businesses using a single simple platform. From small sales teams, marketing-departments-of-one, and part-time services folks to medium-sized orgs that have their sea legs, we're all about helping these sized businesses grow.

What is growth? Growth for our customers means being able to hire more people, build and sell more products, and help more and more of their customers succeed -but not at any cost. Baked into the products we make are practices and approaches to growth that help customers sell, market, and service their customers responsibly, in ways we'd want to experience.

If you want to guide what the future of growth looks like, these are the kinds of problems to work on.

How do we design?

Design at HubSpot is both grounded in experience design fundamentals and a deep belief that small autonomous teams are the best way to get excellent work in customer's hands.

  • We value solving for the customer above all else

  • We give each designer the responsibility and ownership to chart the course for their designs throughout the product and across teams. We don't do sign-offs and burdensome documentation.

  • We respect user research and content and work cooperatively with them while designing

  • We carefully lead and maintain a high-functioning, usability-centered design system and design language with our front end teammates.

  • We're embedded on small teams with engineers and product managers in sane sustainable ratios.

You'll work closely with the team that owns the experience that enables our clinical users to order tests, track the order process, and view final reports. The ideal candidate would act as a strong voice for the user while being able to prioritize business goals to arrive at high-value design solutions. In many cases the individual in this role will be called on to explain your reasoning to customer support staff, business stakeholders, and engineers, many of whom are new to the concepts of user-centered design. We're looking for someone who is inspired by complex challenges and is excited to improve a user's life by providing the best possible experience to accomplish their tasks. You'd be joining a growing team of designers and researchers with diverse backgrounds, interests, and skills. As a member of the team, you'd be expected to provide thoughtful critique and guidance to others, as well as to contribute to initiatives outside of your product team. A willingness to share your experience and a desire to improve as a designer are essential for this role. How you will contribute to our cause: * Improving the workflows and increasing the adoption for our online ordering platform. * Enabling users to resolve their own issues to ultimately deliver results for patients quicker. * Integrating both clinical and biopharmaceutical user groups in ways that support the unique needs of these groups. * Initiating and leading research sessions directly with users, synthesizing research, and engaging stakeholders. * Working closely with product and engineering counterparts to translate insights into a roadmap and a roadmap into a plan, then executing on that plan. * Creating prototypes of possible design solutions to validate with users, working closely with an agile product team to build the software. * Improving the user's experience within the structure of a sprint cycle while partnering closely with engineers to make sure that design is executed to a high standard. * Work with and help to grow a nascent pattern library. How you'll be successful: * You will own your work with an excellent record for delivery while working within the structure of an agile framework to solve design problems and work towards the product roadmap. * When designing an experience, you will design key workflows and interactions as well as thinking through edge cases and error handling. * Throughout the process you will plan for and design informed by analytics and key performance indicators. * You have a good understanding how your design is built and can give clear requirements to engineers. * You're practiced at sharing your work in a thoughtful manner to engage stakeholders. * You'll participate in both discovery and usability research sessions. * You will work closely with design researchers to develop discussion guides and will assist in research activities. * Not content to let well enough be, you're frequently being self-reflective of your process with the intent of making improvements. * On a regular basis, you collaborate with other designers to get feedback on your work and provide feedback to others in a manner that is respectful and constructive. * You'll make contributions that help to level up the User Experience team as a whole.
