GENERAL NATURE OF THE JOB:
The prospective employee will provide support and specialized technical services to all engineering, design and manufacturing groups within the Klozure product line. This role will interact with all of the aforementioned teams, on numerous discrete designs and projects on a daily basis. At times, this role may also interact with a varied audience, including customer service, sales personnel (internal and external), customers and end-users. The Candidate will assist these contacts with identifying appropriate design solutions. Primary responsibilities will include design and drawing creation in a production environment, to support product manufacturing for various manufacturing groups, and product development.
Provide detailing and design support to all engineering, design and manufacturing groups within the Klozure product line.
Functions of this position will include the design of Garlock products to fulfill customer quote requests and orders, and also the creation and/or revising of part drawings for manufacturing.
Shift from one project to the next at a rapid pace, with the ability to prioritize each request against the objectives of the team with little oversight.
Utilize SolidWorks CAD software (2019 currently) to create and revise solid models and detailed mechanical drawings of tooling and products. Occasional AutoCAD 2D use required to support manufacturing and product design.
Works with manufacturing to understand capabilities and improve design for manufacture while reducing costs and improving lead-times.
Support sales and customer requests; review application requirements, and match or redesign current product offering meeting the requirements.
Work with other functions to oversee the entire process from designing, quoting, manufacturing and post sales follow-up. Including, but not limited to, developing associated cost and delivery estimates for new design
Keeps abreast of new product developments and applications for use in adaptation of company products.
Assists customers as required for satisfactory product performance. Visit customers' facilities as required.
The candidate should have the ability to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously, and must be able to balance and prioritize these tasks, along with supporting unexpected requests from manufacturing and customers.
The types of project work will vary, and at times may focus heavily on production-related design / drawing efforts. These types of requests often require an immediate turnaround to maintain the lead-times quoted to our customers, or to meet expedited requests.
Applies good working knowledge of machine shop practices, mechanical drawing and part tolerance standards to tooling and product design.
Utilize EDN and PLM system to maintain proper design review and documentation of pertinent application calls.
Participate in the development and maintenance of technical information on the Garlock database.
Carries out special projects as required.

Associates degree (minimum) in Mechanical Design /Engineering or related discipline.
1 to 3 year minimum experience in product, machine or tool design.
Experience with 3D part and assembly modeling and drafting. The ability to create individual part drawings for manufacturing is required.
Experience with providing technical / engineering support in a manufacturing setting, and familiarity with standard machining practices are desired.
Proficient in the use of CAD software (SolidWorks, AutoCad preferred). Most of the design and drawing work is performed in SolidWorks, having familiarity with SolidWorks Design Table functionality is a plus.
