Volt is immediately hiring for a Product Design Engineer Manager in Terrell, TX.

As a Product Design Engineer Manager, you will provide leadership for the Product Design Engineering department. You will oversee day-to-day tasks and projects pertaining to the development of new products and maintenance of existing products. You will assign projects and aid in explaining project form/fit/function to the recipient.

In addition, you will:

  • Develop product designs from provided specifications.

  • Read publications, attend showings and consult with manufacturing engineering, marketing, production, and sales representatives to establish design concepts and changes.

  • Evaluate design ideas based on factors such as appealing appearance, design-function relationships, serviceability, materials and methods engineering, application, budget, price, production costs, methods of production, marketing characteristics, and client specifications.

  • Present designs to clients or marketing and discuss need for modification and change.

  • Build and/or review prototypes to assure design accuracy.

  • Prepare and coordinate preparation of all working drawings from RFQ specifications.

  • Provide manufacturing problem solving support when needed.

  • Assist in developing packaging methods.

  • Participate in actual product design.

  • Adhere to and maintain company and department operating policies and procedures.

  • Study new engineering trends in related industries.

  • Recommend any such items deemed productive for the department or company as a whole.

This is a full-time, direct-hire opportunity.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Bachelor's degree in a technical field, e.g. Engineering, Industrial Design, etc. plus 5 years of experience supervising a product engineering/design department.

  • Manufacturing background in the metal or automotive industry

  • Strong interpersonal skills (customer-facing)

  • Experience with CAD programs (SolidWorks, Inventor, Pro-E, Creo, or other 3D parametric modeling), database programs, spreadsheets, etc.

  • Ability to delegate workloads within the department to assure efficient operation

  • Proven experience meeting project deadlines

  • Ability to read and analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, operating and assembly instructions, and technical procedures

  • Ability to write reports and business correspondence

  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, and customers

  • Ability to present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, and customers.

Salary: $90,000- $100,000 per year

  • Pay range offered to a successful candidate will be based on several factors, including the candidate's education, work experience, work location, specific job duties, certifications, etc.
