The Product Design Engineer is responsible for leading the software/ hardware execution and development of infotainment highline head units (radios) and systems. The Product Design Engineer will perform software and/or hardware DVP&R and FMEA. Find issues; root cause; and solve. Develop timeline(s) and drive programs to meet. Manage Tier I suppliers and software releases and/or hardware designs. Interface with stakeholders at all levels including vehicle teams, HMI, validation, requirement leads, technical specialists, leadership, and develop robust functional designs. Present action plans with status/risks to get and keep programs on track. Maintain changes and budget to achieve deliverables for a sound product launch. Collaborate with cross-functional teams and make well-analyzed decisions defining direction to drive quality.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering, Electrical Engineering from an ABET accredited University (i.e. Computer Science)

  • 1 year of experience developing and releasing automotive Electrical Electronics (EE) modules/software and specification

  • Knowledge of Apple CarPlay, Google Android Auto, projection technologies

  • Systems Engineering experience

  • Project Management experience

  • Experience with mechanical and/or electrical integration

  • Knowledge of requirements documentation and definition

  • Knowledge of validation practices

  • Ability to work with and lead cross functional teams

  • Strategic out-of-the-box thinker

  • FMEA, DVPR knowledge

  • Experience with CAN (Canoe) bus

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master of Science in Engineering, Electrical Engineering from an ABET accredited university

  • Knowledge of cybersecurity and best practices thereof

  • Able to act decisively within a team

  • A passion for technology

  • Well-rounded outward attitude

  • Willingness to present to management team

  • Knowledge of Quality methods and tools (Green Belt -- DFSS/Reactive, SBT, 3L5Y)

  • Knowledge of radio head unit software and hardware architectures and corresponding vehicle system architecture

  • Ability to lead colleagues from engineering, planning, and suppliers to achieve goals

  • Demonstrated potential to direct, teach, lead and inspire

  • Highly effective at communicating technical issues both verbally and written

  • Understanding of Bluetooth, WiFi protocols, USB, WiFi

VIEW JOBS 11/9/2019 12:00:00 AM 2020-02-07T00:00 The ANC (active noise cancellation) Functional Integration Engineer will be responsible for the design, development, and release of ANC components using established best practice design principles specifically for electrical and electronic components/modules/systems. The responsibilities include concept design, procurement of prototype components, validation testing, production release, and supplier sign -off, and production issue resolution. The Engineer will interface with many business disciplines including; purchasing, suppliers, and quality, manufacturing, and test facilities. The Engineer will provide plant support for pre-production builds and during production for issue resolution and PERs (as needed). Triage audio system issues. Address warranty and customer feedback issues. Basic Qualifications * Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or equivalent (Materials/Chemical/ Civil/ Aerospace/Computer) from an ABET accredited university * 3 years of engineering experience in the automotive industry or a related industry * Demonstrated knowledge of vehicle wiring basics, interior components (Door Modules, Trim panels, Instrument Panels), packaging and mounting * Strong language skills, written and spoken * Experience in troubleshooting component level issues which may be mechanical or electrical in nature * Understanding and ability to use CDA, iBox, CAN analyzer and CANOE and do audio/ANC and Uconnect system validation * Experience with managing Tier 1 automotive supplier all through design direction, technology roadmap and implementation details * Experience with writing high level specifications that define functions and verification tests for active noise control systems and components Preferred Qualifications * Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or equivalent (Materials/Chemical/ Civil/ Aerospace/Computer) from an ABET accredited university * Demonstrated ability to understand mechanical and acoustic resonances * Demonstrated ability to understand acoustics of small rooms and cabins * Understanding of electronics, acoustics, and ANC principles, SW/HW hardware and function with an emphasis on how it works in a vehicle/system environment * Demonstrated knowledge of theory and practical applications of loudspeakers in vehicles, including loudspeakers, sound waves and acoustical output, frequency ranges, radiation patterns, effects of grille patterns, baffles, enclosures, signal requirements (voltage, impedance and electrical current) and amplifier output characteristics * Experience with vehicle acoustic characteristic * Experience with feed forward and feedback servo control systems for noise control * Experience with vehicle audio amplifiers and DSP processing OEM/Supplier development Experience in Active Noise Cancellation/Active Noise Enhancement and other sound enhancement technology is very valuable * Knowledge of narrowband and broadband active noise cancellation techniques and algorithms is a plus * Experience with package audio components in new vehicles * Experience managing, guiding, and documenting supplier activities, system designs, system equalizations and program timing * Ability to summarize and simplify requirements and issues for others * Ability to interact effectively with Product Team Engineers, Managers, and Directors Fiat Chrysler Automobiles Auburn Hills MI
