Job Description:

Position Summary:

Will provide technical leadership and directly participate in projects involving the feasibility, proposal, development, qualification, and production phases of components for aerospace fluid handling and utility applications, including electromechanical actuators (EMAs), valves, pumps, and switches.

Responsibilities:

  • Define and manage the scope of work, timelines, budgets and progress of multiple assigned projects;

  • Coordinate project goals and tasks with engineering, finance, testing, quality, program management, and production support functions;

  • Design/drawing formulation and design calculations;

  • Solve technical problems in the lab or in the field;

  • Review customer information, create technical documents, estimate manufacturing

Skills and Experience

Requirements & Skill

  • Bachelors of Science in Mechanical Engineering with 5+ years of experience in design/project engineering or management of electro-mechanical or fluid handling products with proven leadership of cross-functional team.

  • Experience in designing electromechanical actuator, valves, pumps or switches

  • Project engineering experience including design and assistance with manufacturing of aerospace components.

  • Aerospace experience is a major plus

  • Training or experience in project management and methods, including risk management.

  • Knowledge of ASME Y14.5M Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing and mechanical manufacturing and assembly processes.

  • Training or experience in Value-Engineering, Creo 3.0 CAD, lean manufacturing concepts, and a strong ability in mechanical analysis including stress, thermal, fatigue, gear trains, seals, and fluids.

  • Experience with FEA software, specifically NASTRAN, and MATLAB including Simulink

  • Familiarity with RTCA/DO-160 and MIL-STD-810 environmental testing standards

About the role The packaging engineer is responsible for the development and analysis of packaging, products, materials, processes, or equipment. Under limited supervision/guidance, compiles, analyzes, and reports operational, test, and research data to establish performance standards for newly-designed or modified packaging, products, processes, or materials. Your responsibilities include: * Fully participates in and successfully contributes to project teams typically including the following activities: packaging/product design and development, test of materials, preparation of specifications, process capability studies, report preparation, and process/test documentation. * Ensures proposed packaging design changes are systematically and thoroughly analyzed through proper justification and/or data collection for verification of performance requirements. * Work to develop, coordinate, and create packaging component graphics and labeling content * Work independently to plan and schedule own activities necessary to meet project timelines. * Work cross-functionally with project management, quality, R&D, manufacturing, regulatory, operations, and marketing to ensure project sucess. * Work with external suppliers to design, qualify and procure packaging components. * Complete packaging testing and/or investigory bench study experiments for commercial design improvements. * Generate packaging-related documentation including test protocols and reports. * Perform root cause analysis as related to design, material, or process failures. * Summarize, analyze, and draw conclusions from test results. * Design, procure, and fabricate tooling and fixtures. * Identify areas for continuous improvement. * Keep abreast of new technologies and advances in the greater packaging industries. What we're looking for: Qualifications * B.S. degree in Engineering * 2+ years of Packaging Engineering and Graphics experience, medical device related required * Intermediate knowledge related to paperboard, corrugated, flexible packaging films, Tyvek, thermoformed trays, injection molded parts, and packaging equipment. Familiarity with ASTM / ISTA package testing requirements Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite Package * Packaging process and equipment qualification experience * Strong communication skills (oral and written) * Demonstrated problem solving capability * Quality-driven with great work ethic, highly motivated, tenacious and meticulous in execution * Strong attention to detail; ability to manage simultaneous projects and timelines effectively * Understanding of quality system controls (e.g. user needs, design inputs/outputs, verification/validation, etc.) Boston Scientific is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
