Our Operations team is seeking a Product Support Engineer to help ensure that our products are in compliance with local regulations. This will be a 6 month contract to start.


  • Establish, track and research applicable regulatory requirements to demonstrate compliance for hardware products

  • Provide cross-functional guidance to ensure new and existing products, components, and materials comply with pertinent regulations world-wide

  • Provide guidance for regulatory marking and documentation requirements on products and packaging, examples include FCC, UL, CE, RoHS, WEEE, REACH, etc.

  • Support 3rd party safety and compliance evaluations and testing tasks in accordance with project timelines

  • Manage the preparation, signature, submittal, sharing, and archival of all regulatory documentation

  • Coordinate activities between expert regulatory and legal consultants and the internal cross-functional team

  • Attend design reviews and risk analysis exercises to provide input on regulatory concerns and drive design compliance

  • Work with peers across the company to support product development, testing and product release

  • Organize and assist with the execution of risk assessments on equipment, assembly process, and customer use case to comply with industry and regulatory standards


  • Identify regional sales and import regulations and requirements regarding Product compliance

  • Interpret legal requirements and standards for efficient execution of compliance

  • Review specifications and designs with Engineering during the development process

  • Participate and/or facilitate risk and resolution processes (FMEA) to promote well thought out approach to product safety and compliance in the concept and design phase

Preferred Experience:

  • Sufficient experience to advise on best practices for compliance to world wide hardware requirements

  • Experience working with Nationally Recognized Testing Labs (NRTLs) and Product Safety consultants

  • Hands-on experience in Qualitative & Quantitative Risk assessment

  • Experience in a product development and hardware manufacturing environment

  • Strong verbal and written communications skills required

  • Results driven with the ability to work well independently

  • Ability to multitask, handling multiple priorities simultaneously

Key Job Responsibilities * Drive new product requirements through to commercialization of new products (3D: Discover, Develop, Deploy): * Define Product Design (build intention) * Define Product Performance (datasheet) * Define Design Tools (for configured or custom product applications) * Define Quality Test Tools (for performance verification) * Work cross-functionally to ensure logistics (Operations), processes (Quality), materials (Supply), and certifications (Approvals) support the design intent and product performance * Participate in knowledge transfer from 3D: technical design reviews, FAI (First Article Inspection), and post-launch product support. * Conduct research to support innovation (Technical Investigation): * Develop new technical capabilities (performance, quality and/or reliability) for commercialization * Maintain knowledge of new and advanced technologies * Maintain knowledge of previous generations of product * Understand technical aspects of field returns * Understand needs of customers (expressed and latent) via participation in VoC (Voice of Customer) * Conduct competitive testing * Provide support for 3D projects that have been identified for VA/VE refresh. * Prepare, write, and generate technical reports, seminars, and papers. * Write invention disclosures and protect intellectual property. * Develop and execute test plans to verify product design intent and compliance with codes and standards. * Assist with the resolution of technical issues related to product design, system design, and compliance with industry standards. * Support operational improvement projects where design expertise is required. * Create engineering documentation, drawings, and BOM's for new nVent products. * Follow, and help develop where appropriate, nVent standard work and processes to support portfolio execution. * Work closely with manufacturing, operations, supply, quality, and sustaining engineering in order to ensure strong awareness, communication, and cross functional support. Qualifications and Experience * MS degree in science or engineering (Materials, Polymers, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering). PhD degree preferred. * Polymer extrusion experience highly desirable. * Excellent communication skills.
