We are seeking a Product Application Specialist to join our Chute Solutions Engineering Team. You will be responsible for providing technical support to our product line.

The members in our team are located in Australia and South America and we collaborate well together.

In this position, you will report to the Engineering Manager.

This role can be located from our West Perth, Forrestfield or Beresfield locations, and may involve up to 20% travel.

What you'll do

  • Provide technical support to the sales organisation and assist in developing solutions and design briefs in response to sales opportunities and in line with Product Line principles and strategy.

  • When required, accompany company Sales Teams in site visits, audits and discussions to understand the 'customer challenge' including material and downtime costs.

  • Provide technical support including product selection as well as technical advice and scoping for marketing and training material as well as success stories.

  • Participate in and engage in formulating technical concept solutions and collaborate with the detail design teams to have designs prepared in a timely fashion.

  • Design innovative solutions to satisfy customer requirements.

  • Perform design and 3D modelling for proposal work as well as purchase order work.

  • Assist with detail design and drafting when required.

  • Train, educate and mentor junior employees.

  • Provide recommendations on the development of new products as well as optimisation of existing products to improve performance, quality or cost competitiveness.

  • Provide technical support in customer claims.

Who you are

  • You are a Mechanical Engineer, preferably with experience in bulk materials handling, mining associated design, fixed plant applications.

  • Have Design experience and the ability to complete initial design scopes and modelling, ideally with AutoDesk Inventor (or similar software)

  • Valid Passport for international travel and driver's licence for local travel

  • Customer service mindset

  • Critical analysis, ability to make decisions, commitment and flexibility

  • Ability to collect data and information to make strategic analysis and recommendations

  • High level of computer skills including MS Office Suite

  • Fluent verbal and written English and a second language would be a plus.

  • Ability to work in a multi-cultural and multi-language atmosphere.

  • Ability to travel intrastate, interstate and overseas (up to 20%).
