Summary of Position:

This is an entry level product development position. This position is responsible for conducting research, making recommendations to product development. This position will review and implement new product features for existing lines. Daily activities include, but are not limited to, product loss analysis, rate development, competitor review, filing research, and trend/market data analysis. Works in coordination with actuarial consultants, product management, underwriting, claims, marketing and business systems on enhancements, priorities, and implementations. This position may be responsible for a specific state product line such as condo, rental, dwelling, or homeowners. This position is initially a non-exempt position for 6-9 months with the opportunity to become exempt.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Assists with implementation of new product features and other projects assigned by the Product Manager or Vice President of Product Development

  • Completes, tracks, and communicates progress and status of assigned tasks and projects

  • Develops an in-depth knowledge of SFIC product lines and a working knowledge of the Florida insurance market

  • Identifies product line process improvements

  • Conducts filing research in support of company efforts to change or enhancement existing products

  • Demonstrates proficiency in building strong relationships among teams and team members to ensure cooperation on project objectives

  • Completes ad hoc projects as assigned by manager

  • Identifies and manages existing and emerging risks that stem from business activities and the job role

  • Ensures risks associated with business activities are effectively identified, measured, monitored, and managed

  • Follows written risk and compliance policies, standards, and procedures for business activities

  • Exempt product analyst may work a hybrid remote schedule; must meet productivity levels commensurate with position. If productivity decreases, hybrid remote schedule option may be rescinded

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelors Degree from a regionally accredited university with a business or analytical concentration

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

  • Formal training in project management or business process improvement preferred

  • Intermediate to advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office programs; experience with other analytics software a plus

  • Present a professional and helpful appearance

  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing

The Staff Underwriting &amp; Product Support Analyst is responsible for analyzing and reporting on the results of the Underwriting Department and its impact on our book of business, loss ratio and the overall profitability of the company. This is a staff underwriting position and is geared towards supporting the product management team in evaluating the effectiveness of implemented underwriting rules and of productivity and quality of the department. This position is also responsible for creating, developing and maintaining relationships with 3rd-party vendors used by the Product and Underwriting departments and assisting in their implementation.</p><p>The Staff Underwriting &amp; Product Support Analyst will use data analytics tools and programs such as Tableau and SQL to develop and report on Key Performance Indicators for the UW department, deliver ad hoc data requests, and provide general analysis on the impact and performance of the department. They will also use these tools to test data and support pilot programs with new vendors. This position will also assist in performing market and competitor analysis and participate in testing for product and enhancement releases.</p><p>Essential Job Functions:</p><ul><li><p>Use tableau and other data analysis tools to report on the impact of Underwriting initiatives, guideline changes, etc. on various metrics (i.e., loss ratio, retention, etc.)</p></li><li><p>Assist in developing and reporting on Key Performance Indicators for the Underwriting department.</p></li><li><p>Assist in researching and implementing new 3rd-party tools and data, as well as maintaining relationships with current partnerships and facilitating use of their products.</p></li><li><p>Communicate regularly with vendor partners for development, implementation, continuity and evaluation of contracted services.</p></li><li><p>Analyze the practicality and effectiveness of 3rd party data partners with regards to Underwriting use.</p></li><li><p>Assist in developing reporting and data discipline within Underwriting workflows and processes.</p></li><li><p>Make suggestions for and assist in developing Underwriting strategy.</p></li><li><p>Performs market research and analysis to help identify product enhancement opportunities.</p></li><li><p>Assists in other areas with or without accommodation.</p></li></ul><p>Minimum Requirements:</p><ul><li><p>Bachelors degree from a regionally accredited university.</p></li><li><p>Computer skills including but not limited to, Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint), Jira, AHA and SharePoint.</p></li><li><p>Must possess effective written and verbal communication skills, problem solving, organizational and interpersonal skills.</p></li><li><p>Thorough understanding of Homeowners Insurance and Underwriting concepts.</p></li><li><p>Ability to take initiative, multi-task, work independently and prioritize responsibilities as demonstrated in past work experience.</p></li><li><p>Strong problem-solving skills must be proactive and resourceful and be able to exercise sound judgment.</p></li></ul><p>Preferred Qualifications:</p><ul><li><p>Minimum of 3 years working in the insurance industry.</p></li><li><p>CPCU or completed coursework preferred.</p></li><li><p>Demonstrated competence in Data Analysis.</p></li><li><p>Familiarity with Data Analysis software such as Tableau, SQL, etc.</p></li><li><p>Time-management skills and the ability to effectively prioritize work activities to produce and deliver business needs efficiently.</p></li><li><p>Detailed knowledge of company products and underwriting guidelines.</p></li><li><p>Excellent oral and written communication skills.</p></li><li><p>Exceptional organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.</p></li><li><p>Florida Property &amp; Casualty license (4-40/2-20) preferred</p></li></ul><p>Required Competencies:</p><ul><li><p>Analytical mindset</p></li><li><p>Technical savvy</p></li><li><p>Organization</p></li><li><p>Time management</p></li><li><p>Written communication</p></li><li><p>Timely decision making</p></li><li><p>Interpersonal Savvy</p></li><li><p>Problem Solving</p></li></ul><p>Disclaimer:</p><p>The above statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by employees assigned to this classification.
