Job Description

What is the opportunity?

The Alternative Investments product team serves as the primary platform support for alternative investment products (e.g. hedge funds, private capital funds, real assets, and exchange funds, etc.) sold across the RBC Wealth Management distribution channel. Assists in the development, support, growth, and risk management of RBC Wealth Management's alternative investments platform(s). Assists in the management of key strategic initiatives and vendor relationships designed to support alternative investments platform(s). This role is directly aligned to functional and organizational responsibilities around client service and operational risk management. The role of Product Analyst aligns directly to the RBC Wealth Management overall strategy.

What will you do?

  • Act as the alternative investments performance reporting analyst/point of contact for Financial Advisors and other internal business lines.

  • Responsible for data reconciliation of Private Capital and Hedge Fund cash flows and statements between RBC system and fund sponsors / fund administrators; analyze fund quarterly financial statement

  • Oversee capital call and distribution notices and analyze performance and cash flow details, and resolve issues with fund manager if applicable.

  • Drive initiatives regarding Alternative Investment workflow with third party performance vendor, project team and internal business lines.

  • Ensure alternative investment K1 tax document is delivered to financial advisors and end client by fund's reported timeline; maintain spreadsheet of communicated dates.

  • Monitor alternative investment product inbox and action on emails, completely, accurately and timely.

  • Assist with routine and ad-hoc administrative activities, including security setup, information collection, prospectus monitoring, and maintain fund attributes in third party database.

  • Support the Alternatives Product Manager on projects required to ensure compliance with regulators, competitiveness, and advisor satisfaction.

  • Assist in development and execution of key strategic initiatives, particularly with regards to alternatives

  • Identify appropriate solutions to product and business challenges, and manage the implementation of enhancements to existing programs

What do you need to succeed?

Must Have

  • 2+ years financial markets experience

  • Undergraduate degree (BA / BS) with preferred concentration in economics, finance, or accounting

  • Working knowledge of financial markets and investment industry

  • Working knowledge of alternative investment products

  • Advanced skills with Microsoft Office and Excel Spreadsheet - including but not limited to V - Look up; Pivot Tables etc. Ability to adapt to changing technology

  • Teachable, detail-oriented, strong communicator, and self-starter

Nice to Have

  • 5+ years Alternative Investment performance reporting, date reconciliation and aggregation experience

  • Securities industry licenses 7, 63 and 65, or series 66; or willingness to become licensed

They will act as a subject matter expert (SME) in all aspects of their product. The Product Analyst will effectively manage multiple projects, deadlines and deliverables.</p><p>Responsibilities</p><ul><li><p>Act as a product subject matter expert</p></li><li><p>Represent the product internally across Surescripts with limited support needed from the Product Manager</p></li><li><p>Represent the product externally across clients and other industry stakeholders</p></li><li><p>Develop presentation content for internal and external audiences.</p></li><li><p>Act as a liaison between technical teams and internal/external stakeholders.</p></li><li><p>Develop and maintain product documentation for support teams and technical teams</p></li><li><p>Represent and promote Surescripts and product line at industry events (e.g. MGMA, AAFP, HIMSS)</p></li><li><p>Take lead in managing and recommending improvements to standards in use by Surescripts product line (e.g. NCPDP, X12, HL7)</p></li><li><p>Educate internal stakeholders on product functionality, issues, updates, etc.</p></li><li><p>Manage and continuously improve product operations</p></li><li><p>Coordinate agendas and creation of materials necessary to support periodic business and executive reviews</p></li><li><p>Work within the Surescripts portfolio management framework to manage, track, and drive for product improvement.</p></li><li><p>Define and implement process improvements within Product Innovation</p></li><li><p>Create and maintain operational dashboards and quality reports</p></li><li><p>Collaborate with internal and external teams to identify, diagnose and address product related issues</p></li><li><p>Launch new products</p></li><li><p>Assist with product and market analysis as needed</p></li><li><p>Work with customers as client champion, and point of coordination for all Pilot and Early Adopter programs.
