The West Virginia Illustrated Producer will produce a weekly magazine style show for Nexstar Media Group stations located in West Virginia, Western Maryland, parts of Ohio and Pennsylvania. Through a broadcasting partnership with West Virginia University, Learfield - IMG College and Nexstar Media Group, the producer will create run of show content for the sports season in Morgantown and the Big 12 Conference.
The producer will organize, schedule and book guest plus decides the order in which stories will be told, writes teases and other content, times news programs, edits video, and posts video to the website. The ideal candidate will help populate our digital platforms, write and edit digital stories, send mobile app push alerts and edit video clips for television broadcasts and digital content. You must be able to work under pressure and deliver content in real-time. Strong experience in television news or magazine-style programming, and field producing is a plus.
The producer will have experience with Photoshop and After Effects plus be a creative, strategic thinking person with a desire to grow and succeed in a rapidly changing business.
The producer may also create graphics, edit video, assisting in studio production and researching topics. The producer will assist at station(s) sponsored events and any duties as assigned by the Executive Producer.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Produces Coaching Show Content for broadcast across all platforms
Writes and orders stories
Works with Web Editor and MMJ's to clip and upload completed show content to the website post production
Approves scripts when appropriate
Balances news and feature content to create compelling magazine style shows
Edits video & clips video from sportscasts and edits raw video for distribution on the website, mobile and social media.
Send mobile app push alerts and manage mobile app content.
Writes stories for the website and other eMedia platforms
Interacts with viewers and users on social media sites
Performs other duties as assigned
Requirements & Skills:
Bachelor's degree in Journalism, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and work-related experience
Fluency in English
Ability to edit compelling and engaging video content using Final Cut software
Excellent communication skills, both oral and written
Minimum two years' experience in news or sports operations (Depending on market size)
Proficiency with computers, telephones, copiers, scanners, fax machines and other office equipment
Ability to meet deadlines, prioritize assignments and handle multiple tasks simultaneously
Flexibility to work any shift
Ability for some travel

The Producer must be able to stand, sit, conduct telephone conversations, use electronic mail, write letters and memos, conduct face-to-face discussions with individuals or groups, make decisions without supervision, make decisions that impact the results of co-workers, work near others, work outdoors in all weather conditions, and work indoors in environmentally controlled conditions. In addition, the Producer must be able to lift, set up and operate equipment weighing up to 25 pounds, and be able to handle, control or feel objects, tools or controls.
