KFSM, The TEGNA CBS affiliate serving as a news leader in the Fayetteville and Fort Smith market is searching for a Multi-Skilled Journalist (reporter) to work in our Fayetteville newsroom.

Do you have creative ideas to generate unique, shareable content across all platforms with strong writing, photography and editing skills? Keep reading.

Candidates should have a portfolio showcasing examples of compelling storytelling, and breaking news coverage.

Candidates should also have strong news judgement and be able to help other reporters and producers.

That strong news judgement should also help guide what local news should be on air, digital and social media platform.

Responsibilities:

  • Generate strong story ideas with great impact on the community

  • Deliver on-air news events in compelling and informative manner

  • Generate and execute creative live shots to enhance storytelling

  • Interview news subjects and research facts for authenticity and accuracy

  • Write, shoot and edit stories for on-air broadcast

  • Community and/or talent appearances

  • Perform other tasks as News Director or Executive Producer requires

Requirements:

  • Ability to shoot, write, edit and produce to strict deadlines

  • BA/BS in journalism, communications or other field

  • Valid driver's license

  • Minimum 1-2 years' experience required

  • Ability to calmly handle live, breaking news and fluid situations

  • Strong social media skills with an active presence on Facebook and Twitter

  • Ability to work under pressure with limited time to meet deadlines

Our Executive Producer will work with a team of producers, reporters, photographers and digital staff to craft and manage impactful local content that is highly engaging and memorable. The right candidate must have major breaking news experience, strong editorial judgment, newscast producing expertise and fully understand the needs of our audience across all our platforms. This position requires leadership and solid decision-making skills. Candidates must have social media experience. Responsibilities: * Lead teams in the creation of unique and shareable local content * Skillfully use social media and digital tools to research, discover and distribute local content * Work with the digital and assignment desk teams to identify and assign content appropriately for each platform * Encourage innovation, risk-taking and powerful storytelling in crafting great local newscasts * Inspire local enterprise stories and coordinate special coverage with news leadership team * Oversee multiple newscasts to ensure our local brand and strategies are met * Regularly critique newscasts with the staff, both as a team and with individual producers * Help create and promote a multi-platform experience * Work collaboratively with other managers and perform tasks as required by News Director and Digital Director Requirements: * At least five years newsroom experience as a producer or manager * Strong understanding of the tenets of professional journalism * Knowledge of ENPS, Edius, photojournalism, editing, and content management systems a plus * Organizational skills and the ability to work under constant time-sensitive deadlines * BA/BS in journalism, communications or related a plus About TEGNA TEGNA Inc.
