Position Description:

The producer will work on all aspects of audiobook production, including casting, directing, managing outside vendors, negotiating with talent and their representatives, plus all aspects of audiobook contracting and paperwork. The producer must be able to work with authors, narrators and a team of in-house and freelance producers to manage productions from the earliest phase of production through completion. Knowledge of audio and/or video editing is a must, plus an understanding of audio recording and studio production is preferred.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Cast, direct, produce and deliver a wide variety of audiobooks

  • Work with authors, agents and book editors to establish and secure casting choices

  • Devise production budgets, negotiate narrator fees. manage narrator contracts and process invoices

  • Produce and direct author narrators, either in-house or remotely

  • Monitor and track all phases of post-production with outside vendors

  • Ensure audio recorded in-house or external studios is distributed to the appropriate vendors for edit/qc/master

  • Edit audio to create audio clips and troubleshoot audio issues

  • Meet weekly with the production team to go over productions that are in progress and those that are upcoming

  • Record audiobooks in-house studio with authors and actors (preferred, but not essential)

  • Produce marketing materials (video and stills) for audiobook productions (preferred, but not essential)

Required Skills / Knowledge:

  • Good knowledge of audiobook narrators, including established and emerging talent. For candidates not from an audiobook background, knowledge and experience of working with actors, VIPs and/or editorial talent in a broadcast media environment (Network, cable, digital video/OTT TV or radio services)

  • Excellent organizational skills, especially production management and handling a wide variety of concurrent productions

  • Strong budgeting and talent management skills

  • Excellent communication skills

  • Proficient in ProTools, Audacity or equivalent audio editing tools

  • Knowledge of audio recording equipment and studios

  • Proficient in Word, Excel, Adobe Creative Suite, Google Docs

  • Good pop culture knowledge and a passion for books, audiobooks, podcasts, music, theatre or TV is a must!

Experience Needed:

  • 2-3 years in audiobook production, either in a publishing house, or working with vendors that supply audiobook recordings and/or post-production services. Equivalent experience in radio, TV or digital media production will be considered

  • Direct experience of working with narrators and acting talent, either professional narrators, author narrators or VIPs

  • Experience of pitching ideas within a group environment is preferred

  • A proven self-starter that takes ownership of projects, able to work in a team environment to get the best product

Educational Background Required:

  • College degree preferred, but will consider candidates with equivalent experience gained through direct work within the audiobook, radio, digital media and TV industries

Performance Objectives: Achievement of Stated Sales Goals Sales Process: * Prepare proposals and presentations using marketing resources, practice groups and other Willis Towers Watson producers. * Design individual prospect sales strategies and develop unique prospect programs * Align with individual client sales strategies * Conduct thorough needs analysis/risk assessment to uncover prospects/clients unique coverage needs * Provide consultative advice in key risk areas * Identify and close potential cross-sell opportunities Client Management: * Maintain consistent / high quality touch points by phone and face to face with clients * Champion the proper advocacy of claims * Participate in stewardship meetings * Support Client Management team in identifying and closing rounding opportunities Pipeline Management: * Identify prospects for business from existing and prospective clients * Develop new relationships with individuals responsible for insurance and risk management decisions * Obtain referral leads from existing clients * Aggressively identify and pursue cross-selling opportunities * Participate and take leadership roles in targeted community and professional associations. People Management: * Provide annual input for the performance review of team members * Provide timely / quality feedback to service team members; assist team members in acquiring new skills * Help to identify and develop future producer talent The Requirements * BA/BS degree in related field of study required.
