Orlando's News 96.5 WDBO has an immediate opening for a full-time morning show producer/board-op. This morning show producer position will put you right in the middle of a fast-paced news environment. You need to be a master of finding, creating and managing content for Orlando's Morning News. To be able to pinpoint the right content, the producer needs to have a thorough understanding of our target audience and our average listener and have a complete understanding of how our listeners use our content. This producer needs to have good skills related to creativity and research while being comfortable with working with people of varying levels and a strong technical know-how. This position will work closely with the morning show host, anchors, reporters, news team, and engineering/I.T. department. Candidates must be able to run a board and feel confident on-air. Must have the ability to communicate in a professional and respectful tone and be able to receive constructive criticism. Flawless technical execution (running the board) for Orlando's Morning News, syndicated talk shows as well as breaking news and severe weather events.
Must run a 'tight' board and follow format clocks.
Will operate Wheatstone Console, Wide Orbit Automation, Opal, Comrex Access and other broadcast equipment.
Will contribute to content prep, production, idea generation, and other duties related to the execution of content.
Coordinate two ways with local and national reporters, hosts, and guests.
Attend and participate in daily morning show meeting.
Prepare prep sheet for morning show members and larger CMG team.
Creating social media content promoting listenership and engagement.
Creating and posting related content for the station's website.
Monitor multiple sources for breaking news, traffic problems and weather alerts.
Help gather/generate news content for newscasts and live shows.
Produce and submit at least one unique, topical or entertaining news story daily for air.
Fill in as morning show host as needed including in emergency or last-minute situations.
Handle all duties related to scheduling part-time producer shifts.
Train, mentor and engage with part-time producers.
Contribute to writing station imaging.
Screen phone calls, send push alerts, screen and edit open mics.
Maintain, update, and contribute to the Producer Playbook with pertinent information.
Host and/or produce weekend Expert shows.
Prefer 2-3 years of on-air and production experience.
Previous experience with Wide Orbit automation systems and radio console is a plus.
Should be proficient in Adobe Audition or similar audio editing software.
Should be proficient with Windows/Microsoft Office.
Must have a positive attitude and be able to work within a team environment with a shared vision for success.
Must be willing to learn additional skills related to producing a morning show.
Must be able to work morning show hours as well as be flexible with general work hours including weekend hours.
Must have experience generating and distributing content on websites/social media platforms.
Must be detail oriented.
