Develop implementation plan for produce category andoperational strategy customized for multiple Distribution Centers. Ensureimplementation is in alignment with overall US Foods category strategy andgoals and defined Area needs.

Responsible for Area product assortment. Reviewassortment and gauge product penetration, noting slow or dead SKUs. Request exceptionSKUs, determine DWOs, and create conversion plans. Ensure Area productassortment is in alignment with US Foods category strategy and work to reduceSKU duplication.

Responsible for gathering local market data (includingtrends) through feedback and intelligence from culinary team, sales staff, specialists,and vendor partners. Report new productopportunities and provide data on competitors. Align Rosemont pricingrecommendations with Area strategy in partnership with Area Pricing manager.

Responsible for managing the quality assurance team toensure Produce quality, by maintaining load quality integrity, conductingquality inspections and providing feedback to vendors.

Partner with Operations to develop produce strategy thatensure quality and integrity.

Ensure weekly communication with Specialists, Sellers,and QA.

Facilitate product training and new product introductions,with DSS, ASM, Specialists and sales staff. Ensure product/brand message is inalignment with overall USF strategy.

Work closely with the ASM, Specialist, and culinary team,conducting planning meetings to identify accounts and categories and theirpotential opportunities. Work with sellers and specialists to develop customerprograms.

Support and facilitate all FSQA inquiries for theassigned Area through appropriate procedures and work closely with the Regionteam on any national or regional vendor issues. Support major Area-specificaccount bids through thorough analysis, coordinate customer on-boarding, andkeep sales staff informed of ongoing category strategy.

  • Education/Training:

  • Four year college degree in business or related field, or equivalent field experience required.

Related Experience:

  • Minimum 7 years category management experiencepreferred, with some project management experience preferred, ideally this experiencewill derive from the food service or food manufacturing industries.


  • Mustpossess the ability to operate successfully within a matrix organization,working effectively with multiple groups.

  • Must be able to work in a teamsetting, drive organizational transformations and support change managementwithin the organization.

  • Must be able to provide fact-based recommendationsacross a variety of management levels resulting in buy-in and improvement incategory performance.

  • Must be self-directed and highly motivated, possessing astrong business acumen, sound interpersonal skills, and excellent presentationskills.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel required; working knowledge ofPowerPoint is required.

Job Description The Area Manager, Hauling primarily focuses on building operations expertise and improving operations performance in all of the collection/hauling Divisions within the Area. The Area Manager, Hauling educates and works with field operations to ensure execution and durability of standards and processes and plays an essential role in building the capability of the field teams to consistently execute on business plans and budgets, ensuring an optimal customer experience for the Company's customers. Principal Responsibilities * Provides expertise, analysis, input, information and actions to improve operations performance (not day-to-day supervision) and is focused on operations activities and processes for all collection lines of business (commercial, industrial, residential and portable services). • Directly manages the Blue Crew process including providing direct management support to local management teams in the event of work stoppages or strikes. • Actively champions and gives clear participatory support to all Republic Safety programs and Safe Operating practices at all times. Works closely with the Safety department to support Company safety initiatives, and ensure compliance with Hours of Service and Overweight regulations. • Listens, evaluates, and counsels Supervisors, Operations Managers, and General Managers in setting priorities and goals in order to optimize their operations. • Assists with the development and education of operations talent, in particular Operations Managers (works with management to hire, train, and mentor operations management and staff). • Assists in the creation, development and implementation of the Company operations strategy and other Company-wide initiatives. • Collaborates on, aids establishment of and supports compliance with Company standards and Best Management Operating procedures and processes. • Collaborates with local site leadership to identify issues, lead root cause analysis and develop remedial action plans.
